$50, March 5th. Royal Edition includes Royal Upgrade and the Season Pass, which you can buy separately if you own the base game. PC version also comes out that day, will be the Royal Edition as wel.

I don't really understand this complaint. If you own the game, you can play these updates. If you think the game might be improved later by updates and DLC, you can wait and get it cheaper.

But I hate it

I bought the game at launch! Didn't really like it enough to get the DLC yet, though. I think it's particularly bad with fighting games because they're so dependent on an online community, so you'll get some interested people at launch and then some others over a year later when they release a complete or new edition.

I don't get annoyed by most DLC practices but I bought FFXV at launch and was VERY disappointed that they immediately said they were going to improve the story via patches later.

Add all of the extra content and silly hats you want to a game but why the fuck would I want to play a game when they came out and said that the story wasn't even done yet? I was about 5 hours in when they made that announcement and haven't touched it since.

I'm considering the $20 upgrade to try again but honestly it still feels pretty bad knowing that I basically paid $80+ for this game that STILL isn't complete.

There is literally no reason to buy games at launch anymore unless its an online game and even then you could still wait. It doesn't make any sense.

Okay, yeah. DLC is fine. I don't like 'enhanced' versions of games that you can only experience by buying and replaying the whole game.

Wait this doesn't look right. The Royal Upgrade includes the 3 boy episodes and multiplayer expansion. It's basically the base game + 1st season pass + some extra goodies exclusive to royal upgrade. But there's a SECOND, yet to be released, season pass that the royal edition does NOT include from what I can tell.

The upgrade to the royal edition for $20 includes the season 1 pass. So if you have the base game you only have to pay $20 to upgrade to the FULL royal edition which includes that pass. I'm not sure where you're seeing that you have to pay to upgrade AND pay for season 1 DLC.

EDIT: Okay I'm seeing some people say that the season 1 DLC is NOT included and the royal upgrade pack is literally just an extra dungeon and a few bosses for $20. This is the stupidest pricing model I've seen in a long time if that's true.

Yeah, it sounds like the Royal Edition and the Royal Pack are two different things.

The Royal Edition is the base game + the season pass + the new stuff that you buy for $50.

The Royal Pack is just an addition you buy if you already have the base game and it only includes the new stuff.
