I feel so gross why the hell would they do this what can I do to prevent this from ever happening again.

I'd "deactivate" the account but in Settings that's the only such option and I don't want to deactivate it and have it still generate that shit.

It's kind of awkward but I was on a business trip and the hotel I was at blocked certain adult sites so I figured I'd just go on pinterest since of course it's not going to be blocked. Not that there's anything greater than like R rated there but it's enough you know.

Someone hacked it a couple months ago and I changed the password but now it's like "lol check out these guns" and it's like w/e I can deal with guns or normal video game character drawings but not ... what it recommended today, that's legit effed.

Some ignored person keeps posting and bumping this so I'll take that unfortunate fact to respond to this post instead.

I seriously have no clue. I think their algorithms must be screwed up if they equate looking at adult ass women with "child models".

As a follow-up I posted about my disgust of this on Twitter and they did not respond with how you can even filter or delete their recommendations so you're literally stuck with it. What a shitty website.

No, I have never searched for anything like that. My account was hacked a month or two ago so it's possible whoever got in there did something (I also started getting a lot of gun and anime/drawing recommendations after that). The problem is that there's no way to fix it even if that is the case. Or their algorithms are entirely screwed up.

Literally what potential advantage could I gain from making this topic on a non-anonymous message board I have been visiting the past several months, if I literally had been looking that kind of shit up? There's just no logic there.

On PC (doesn't seem to work on mobile) you click on the bottom right "..." and either report or hide the pin. Hide enough of the pins you dislike and pintrest will stop putting similar pins in your feed. Also if for some reason it is a particular person you are following, that same step will allow you to unfollow them, or the particular board that contains those pins.

Ok so the "deactivate" link actually does have an option to permanently delete the account. The thing is, they send you an e-mail to confirm (?) and the red button on the e-mail clearly says "YES, CLOSE MY ACCOUNT", and the URL clearly points to "permanent account closure" and I put in my information and... it asks if I want to reactivate my account.

I didn't even like one pin about guns. I right clicked and saved to share somewhere else and now I get guns in my feed. Pintrest definitely gets too excited when you click on an image. But usually they'll peter out after a while if you stop clicking on them, even if you aren't pinning/liking them yourself.
