And I'm not just talking about captioned images to post on social media. I mean literal, real life memes. These general ideas and concepts that people talk about and everyone knows what they are. Women FEED off of these things.

Every wonder why women are so obsessed with weddings and wedding planning? Well, yes, there are a lot of reasons why women are obsessed with weddings, but why they are obsessed with many of the core elements of a wedding? The wedding traditions and whatnot? BECAUSE THEY ARE MEMES. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." The dress, the centerpieces, the band vs. DJ, the gifts, the toasts, reception, cocktail hour, photos, EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN WEDDING PARTY AND FAMILY GROUP PHOTO IN EVERY IMAGINABLE POSE. If you don't have these things, you missed out on a piece of your wedding. Sure, a ton of the stuff could have been absent and it wouldn't have made the event any less fun. But what is she going to do when her girlfriend 20 years later asks what the centerpieces were? Or if she got the photo where the bridal party is all jumping in the air? Uh oh! She missed that MEME. Wedding retroactively ruined because she couldn't GOSSIP about it with her girlfriends.

Similar logic applies to other elements of their lives. You ever watch a TV show made for women, or with a large female following? The producers/writers/directors always make sure to load it with MEMES. You have to have the holiday special episode that has all the throwbacks to holiday special traditions. You have to have the prom episode. You have to have the homecoming episode. You have to have the hoe-down dance episode. You have to have the Valentine's Day episode. The Halloween episode. These evens don't have any specific bearing on the main plot. They are worked into the plot just to get the MEME off the checklist so that their female fans can enjoy it.

The superfluous bed pillows every women owns apply here. It's not a meme-filled house until it has all the components she can talk about with her girlfriends! Do you need an extra tool shed in the back yard? Nah, the garage works fine for the stuff you use 99% of the time, but guess what? You have to build a separate tool shed and then fill it with stuff so she can point to it when she's giving "the grand tour" once every 3 years and say "and that's where we keep the rest of the tools." Think your little patio is fine as is? Nope, you need to expand it for the guests to enter when you're "entertaining" a big crowd (6 people) once a year. The six pillows are just another thing. "Oh that's our bed with all of the pillows tee hee. Her girlfriends' beds all have their mountain of pillows. How will she survive that conversation if she can't say something about hers?

Women are MEMES incarnate.

Didn't read but I do agree that women tend to base their lives off social constructs.

Well, yeah, that's how women are wired. They're social creatures, much more so than men in some respects.

Memes aren't fucking internet pictures. That's a dumbassed, bastardized definition.

Meme:
an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

20,000 years ago, while groups of men were off hunting, groups of women were sharing information with one another. Over generations and generations of this, they've been wired to communicate and share information about their lives with one another.
And if they agree with the information given, they'll use it themselves.

Women don't live meme lives, they pass information as meme information, between one another.
