Yet could also run the risk of once again alienating third-party developers.

How so? It seems to encourage more innovation than not.

It's like it was with the Wii U gamepad when most third-party developers decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

Except for the part where this is completely optional. You're not going to alienate developers with options. The Gamepad was intrinsic to the WiiU, so developers were reluctant to neglect it. This, though? Not developing for Labo is about like not developing for Kinect or Move.

Those do not look at all like $60 games. They're the kind of game that should be priced in the $10-20 range. So it's generously like $50 of cardboard... with some sensors, but there's probably less tech there than an RPi, and an RPi is cheaper. Of course, an RPi is nowhere near as cheap as a tenth of the price of Labo, so I don't know what Kyuubi is smoking (as usual)

I agree that the games individually aren't 60 dollar games. But I'm guessing that they come in a pack together.

from polygon.com: The price of the Variety Kit is roughly $10 more than a full Nintendo Switch game

variety kit, to me, means that there will be more than one game/thing to build.

I said "price of Labo" which you know because you had to edit it out of my post that you quoted. The price of the Switch (which I guess is much cheaper here in the US) doesn't count because the Switch is a standalone device that's useful for other things. If you want to make that kind of comparison, then you better include keyboard, mouse, monitor, ethernet cables/wireless router, etc. in your RPi price

Does anyone really need more expensive gizmos lying around. If the joycon already does something why make an extra peripheral

But it's low tech and expensive, that's the problem. For the price of the $70/$80 bundle I could get a pro controller or new joycons. That seems like a much better purchase to me. I know I'm not really the target audience for this but what amount of potential fun makes it worth it to spend that much money on cardboard? I'm sure that once people start getting their hands on this and see what everything needs, you're gonna see DIY instructions all over for how to cut up your own cardboard boxes

Unless we're looking at those purchases in a vacuum. Remember that those bundles include games. A pair of Joy-Cons can't do much on their own.

People do realize that even though it cost like $70 or whatever, most of that is for the actual game? You know, the things that normally cost $60, right? And before you say the games should cost less, it seems like the game has a bunch of games altogether. So, buying like a bunch of $5-$10 games on one cartridge and a bunch of cardboard. I assume they'll also sell the cardboard separately(or maybe free refills), because those will break and tear easily. And probably pretty fast...
Also, it seems interesting... I may look into it...

Don't you still need the sensor square thingies so the joycons actually work with the kit?

Those things might be proprietary.
