I seriously don't get how you go from claiming to be a Sanders supporter to complaining that liberal economics are ruining the country.

There's one bright side to this.

California spending millions and still badly ******* up with their increasing poverty and homelessness makes Hawaii's situation look so much better in comparison.

I doubt the homeless in Hawaii are people from Hawaii having a ruff time.

Homeless make an extra effort to get to these places.

Thanks for this website, it's interesting that most of the major news in the US is liberal biased

It's also good to know the non-biased media sources

If you go the center valley of California, youll find some the highest levels of poverty in the country. Thats a good chunk of California. Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and San Diego alone make over 81% the Californian GDP. Thats laughable considering how big California is. All its wealth is concentrated in those 4 metropolitan areas.

Californians cant move to its rich coastal cities on a minimum wage job. Housing is too expensive. California will eat you alive if you dont have the skills to make it.

Is this finding supposed to surprise anyone?

Millionaires and billionaires from Hollywood and silicon valley with fucktons of homeless and illegals, of course there's a massive gap from top to bottom.

The real trick is to live here for awhile and accumulate wealth, and then just move to another part of the country where that money is worth double or triple. I make 65k a year or so in a job that would pay me half of that in 95% of the country. Yeah cost of living is high, but I still save more money in terms of raw numbers here than I would anywhere else.

Because despite being one country, different regions of this country have been affected by inflation in different ways.

The simple explanation is that you're paid twice as much here and everything costs twice as much, but that also means I save twice as much. As long as I'm living here that doesn't actually matter, but if you move to somewhere else then all of a sudden your money that you have saved becomes much more valuable in a different part of the country.

I've heard it's pretty common for people to sell their houses here, and then take that money and buy basically the same house in the Midwest for half the price and pocket the difference.

Supply and demand does not increase the value of a dollar. It increases the price of a shitty apartment near a ski town.

Supply and demand does not increase the value of a dollar. It increases the price of a shitty apartment near a ski town.

Money has a value based on what people agree it's worth relative to what you purchase with it.

Supply and Demand is the basic principal explaining that.

That shitty apartment is agreed to be worth more because of it's demand due to it's location in a low supply area.

Most people who dont have jobs in tech will be poor in the future. Autonomous robots/software are killing jobs by the millions.

Keep a critical eye on California because its already happening there. People who work in tech have no problem making it California. Unskilled minimum wage workers are being slaughtered and priced out. The rest of the country will soon follow and they will be hit even harder than California.

Yes due to a climate that is hospitable to the homeless.

nah I don't think that's really plausible tbh

California isn't even that hospitable to the homeless (except climate wise, it is nice most of the year)

"The climate is hospitable"
"Nah, it's not hospitable, except for the climate"
wut?

"The climate is hospitable" in this context isn't talking about the weather, instead referring to day-to-day living as a homeless person. The counterpoint says that the only thing hospitable about being homeless in California is the weather, claiming that the day-to-day living as a homeless person in California is just plain shit.

And it is - food is way more expensive, clean water is damned-near astronomical (so much so that Silicon Valley people are stealing raw water and selling it for $45 a gallon), shelter is scarce and damned-near inhospitable.

You're insane. San Francisco has livable outdoor conditions year round, huge networks of shelter and support, and homeless come from all over to live here and other states literally put homeless peoples on busses and send em here.

I think he's talking about SoCal (particularly Los Angeles), which he is right and wrong at the same time. While living conditions aren't that great for homeless in Los Angeles, there's a huge community of homeless people in LA that help one another, not to mention daily foods from charity community service organizations and churches.

Conservatives: "Education is liberal indoctrination, who needs it?"
Also conservatives: "Ok here's my hilarious take on economics after reading some clickbait nonsense"

CA is the economic engine of the US with the most diversified economy. There is a huge concentration of high paying jobs in the state, attracting wealthy and educated people from all around the world. 1/4th of the billionaires in the US live in CA. With 12% of the population, it makes up 14% of the US economy.

That's where the income inequality statistics come from. Lots of rich people means more demand for lower paying jobs. This doesn't mean CA is poorer than say Alabama which is just kind of universally poor.

Having a ton of rich people and a huge demand for housing is not the worst problem in the world to have. LA is not looking enviously at Detroit because of its cheap housing.
