it was like sometime last year I got the first letter. I got an exception due to my anxiety the lady my mom called was nice enough to give it to me even though I don't have a doctor/therapist note. Nice surprise in the mail today I got another goddamn letter i'm gonna do a flip, i don't know if they'll accept it again without a note

Can you be permanently excused or do I have to keep fending them off every few months?

It mostly tells them you're too stupid and can't be trusted to give an impartial verdict.

Quoted from the web:

"If you have been convicted of a crime that was a felony, you usually will not or cannot be called for jury duty service. That is because the names for jury duty are drawn from a registrar of voters. Usually, felons cannot register to vote."

I never registered to vote and I still got summoned twice. Went the first time, case got dismissed. Second time, I was exempt cause I was a student.

All I know is, compulsory jury duty is such a bs American concept.

Can felons do jury duty?

If so you could get a criminal conviction.

I often wonder if I've ever been summoned. I got tired of changing my address with the post office every time I moved so I just stopped. I haven't changed my address in like 7 years.

My mom does this, nothings ever happened to her but I'd worry myself sick over actually being the unlucky idiot to get arrested for it. Police station right behind my house to lol

The only mail I don't get is junk mail. The people that have a purpose to send me mail still do such as family, work, and bills. I get zero mail from any other sources

Unfortunately some businesses arent so understanding. Though I believe they legally cant fire you for attending/serving, it can be held against you.

This. My coworker is not allowed to be on jury duty because apparently, he is an ex felon. He never told me what he did and refuses to, but I heard through the grapevine he used to be in a gang. He is about my age. A year older with two children.

Yeah that doesn't work anymore. They use a combination of things specifically because people were avoiding jury duty

You can be excused for it but there is no permanent way out. You can purposely bomb the interview and that's about it

You can feel free to avoid it and as long as you never get a ticket you're fine. They issued warrants on the spot last time they were choosing jury panels with people absent when I went but they don't just go looking for people

I've served on two juries out of the handful of times I was selected for jury duty. It's quite an interesting experience actually, though I think I've got a lifetime pass from being selected for future juries now. Certain events in my past would probably get either the prosecution or defense to gently excuse me from the pool. =p

I'm not gonna ignore it, like I said I'd be paranoid about getting in trouble for it forever lol

I mean I guess I'll just see what they say to my mom again, if they want me I'll fucking go they're not going to pick me for shit, no way I can hold it together haha I'd just rather they leave me the hell alone
