On Chapter 7, around Lv 50. Found a level 80ish enemy that I could beat repeatedly and leveled up to Lv 76 within a few hours. In the process I got Lv80+ Legendary weapon chips equipped to all my Blades

Welp so much for progression

Lul yeah that can happen. It's not as easy as the first game to get super overleveled without intending to be overleveled but this game isn't exactly all that hard to get overleveled either.

In fact even if you dodge all the fights and just fight the unique bosses underleveled, you actually become too overleveled for the main story because of the way underleveled exp gain works

Just skip all battles til you unlock the superbosses and try to beat them. I've beaten them lvl 60-80

They honestly made it a lot easier to take on super-high-leveled enemies due to all the mechanics and overpowered strats. (The full Driver Combo does way too much damage in any level, lmao.)

Tora's blades have over 50% block rate so he can tank nearly anything I've found in the game, regardless of level.

I got really burnt out on that game. Im at the end of chapter 9 but dont really have any motivation to finish. All the little things got to me. Opening blades? Wait through all these unskippable scenes and menus. Gathering something? several menus pop up, merc mission done? more unskippable menus as you complete the mission AND when you send out a new one. Need to switch out Blades for a field skill? Have fun going through your hundreds of blades looking for the right skills as there is no way to sort. Battle system is fun, but the enemies are bullet spongey as hell and fights take so long that i avoid them at all costs.

I dont know, I could go on and on. Its a shame because there is a pretty decent game there, but the design choices are baffling.

Nice. I know Morag can be set up to where she dodges nearly 90% of all attacks.

You think 50% is high? Later you can get up to 93%, and you can equip something that has a chance to void and reflect damage on block at half the block rate

The recent changes fixed a lot of menu streamlining, and to be really honest with you, if you think enemies are bullet sponges by chapter 9, it's actually your problem. Enemies have absurdly low hp in this game. There are strats that make you beat the superboss with the most HP at under 1 minute

Then you wouldn't be saying that. For one thing, Xenoblade 1 isn't even supposed to be a Xeno- game. The original title was "Monado - The Beginning of the World" or something of the sort. They use similar themes but they play and feel drastically different

Its possible its just me, but if you go back to xenoblade 1, your auto-attacks actually do signifigant damage where in 2 they do almost no damage by comparison. Almost all damage comes from combos and chains. I guess maybe I just prefer the combat from the other two games even though I do enjoy to mechanics in this one. It just feels like the balance is off a little

Autos don't really do that much damage anymore. If you really wanna try to kill enemies, quickly, by ch 9, getting the last Poppi form will probably increase your battle power by quite a bit. Otherwise, use Mythra. Stack critical hit rate like crazy, and look at her passives. Spend some points on double spinning slash, and you'll see that you can actually just spam double spinning slash like crazy.

So you can do Light-light-water then light-light-light in less than a minute and then chain attack and you can basically kill every enemy in the game

Also by ch 9, you can find Beta Scopes. They help you break. Build a team that can do the break-topple-launch-smash driver combo. They multiply your damage (especially if you use a blade combo with it), and smashing does as much damage as a lvl 3 combo with Rex at a far less time

I already did get the third poppi form, and it did really boost the battle power of my party by quite a bit. I think I grasp the mechanics well enough, I just dont really like the fact that they made the design choice to kill auto attack damage for trash mobs. After 100 hours I dont really want to use the mechanics on every trash mob.

I can sorta see that. Some battles should require less effort. Also, I did enjoy building the seventh party member in Xenoblade 1 into an auto-attacking machine. But at the same time, doing something like spamming your entire art pool and switching to another blade, spam move, do elemental, blade switch, spam move, it was pretty busy and exhilarating even if it was a normal mob battle. It made up for the fact that there were less tyrant battles in this game than previous games.
