My full attention isn't on it, but I'm finding it pretty enjoyable. I haven't watched an old Japanese Godzilla movie to full to be super honest, but I have watched some serialized Godzilla in the past in Korea :P.

To be honest, I've always been confused. I've always thought Godzilla was a good guy who beats up all the bad monsters. But here he's basically singlehandedly caused the apocalypse and is therefore probably a bad guy.

This one's written by Urobuchi Gen who is incapable of writing something bad, though he recycles dystopic themes a bit too much sometimes. Which is why I think Expelled From Paradise is one of his best works because it was so uncharacteristically hopeful and lighthearted.

This is definitely one of the more blatant depressing Urobuchi at work.

Yeah that's a bit of an exaggeration but he's pretty consistently great imo

This one was really good, too, lol. It really makes you wonder how the fuck they're ever gonna deal with what happened at the end lul

I think the only problem with this one is how much it tries to follow the Godzilla format. Like you see a bunch of humans dealing with their own politics, and it's a ton of exposition so that you care when Godzilla inevitably kicks their asses. But yeah it's a bit too much exposition, and the fact that it's a 3 parter hurts the first part a bit. But it's still good times. The lead up to the very end to really drive home the hopelessness was great

It was a pretty cool sci-fi flick but the G-Man was a bit of a letdown visually speaking. He was barely animated, looked like a tree half the time and he mostly spammed atomic breath (so they only had to animate his mouth for the most part) during battles.

I kinda felt like being animated and all, the battles would have been turned up to 11 in comparison to the movies so it was a bit of a bummer. Definitely missed a trick not showing some of his fights vs the monsters at the beginning too.

Hopefully they'll up the framerate for the next movie because this one looks like it's dipping to sub-20fps in some scenes hence the stutter.

I did like the plot, though.
