Games journalism, at least in that format, is a dying industry. I wouldn't be surprised if GameStop outlasts the major publications and YouTube... Amazon and Twitch are changing things up.

I don't mind simple visuals, but the actual layouts on modern sites are often garbage and needlessly bloated. The "mobile optimized" endless scroll shit is the worst.

Once I found out about n4g, I've been using that. Gathers up all of the news from various sites and then you can see with a glance how hot any given story is. I can filter it to show me stories over a certain popularity ranking over the course of a week. Quick way to get caught up on anything relevant.
Then there's metacritic for video game scores. Little point to go to ign now other than the random game info that I need that google picks up in their wikis sometimes.

I blame dirty mobile users for shit websites, and they should be segregated to their own internet until their objectively inferior hardware (smaller screens, weaker processors, internal space that is dwarfed by year 2000~ computers, microtransactions, serious lockdowns on operating systems, unupgradable, overpriced, hardware developers removing features because "fuck you that's why", paying through the nose for internet access (HOW much for HOW few gigs?), and shitty experiences overall) catches up with what was considered good over a decade ago.

I have a 64GB SD card smaller than a dime, there is no reason for dirty mobile users to be running about with obsolete-on-release hardware with anything less than that as internal space.

Yep. They give cod rehashes high scores every year, meanwhile great games have large amounts of points deducted for trivial reasons by some hipster reviewer. A good example of this is "Enter the Gungeon," a game that, while it has its faults, is all-around amazing and deserves more than a 9 at the very least. The dumb author deducts 1.5 points because of "A few boring guns."

Lol 7/10? You have garbage taste I'm guessing. Also you have multiple chances to get different guns-- in fact it's more forgiving in this sense than isaac is.

IDK where you're getting "tedium" from. Maybe you're just bad at the game? The entire premise is to work with what RNG gives you. You have pretty bad taste in games imo
