At light speed, the movement shifted from addressing legitimate, institutional concerns of harassment to becoming a petty, attention-seeking free-for-all that tries to conflate nonsense with actual rapes and assaults.

I am completely in favor of outing the Weinsteins and Spaceys of the world, and I'd like to see them brought to justice for their crimes.

This is a far cry from the people accusing Aziz and Franco, or even the fake outrage over Louis C.K.

What the movement should be about is:

1) Outing serial criminals who've gotten away with this nonsense because of historical power structures
2) Exposing and ending the casual sexism and assault that hurts women's careers and exists in thousands of work places.

Those are both good things and genuine progress.

What the movement should not be about is claiming victim status because a man didn't read your "non-verbal cues" that you weren't into him while you were blowing him, or a man making you feel uncomfortable by saying something in a situation where you were 100% safe.

Did you have any issue with the stuff written about in the Time article?

While the Time article may be more agreeable, Time doesn't necessarily reflect reality or have any sort of authority on anyone's perception of the movement.

Because whether or not Time has weighed in, the reality is that we've gone down the slippery slope that we all warned about, and are on the verge of causing more damage than we are preventing.

They didn't just weigh in. They spoke to the people who started the movement.

Same thing applies to the first few people who posted their story on social media. Their intentions don't matter. The movement is whatever people decide to use it for and make of it.

Stuff like Aziz Anzari doesn't really seem like the majority of these stories though.
