My manager and I have a rocky relationship. I've been with the company for years but I've been reporting to him for 6 months as of February.

Yesterday when my manager walked away from his desk, I saw an unsent email about me. Basically the email was telling his associates to heavily monitor my clock in/ clock out times and to look for violations, and even said I am bound to "slip up"

Naturally I want to quit. Should I?

If you're fired you have a shot at unemployment. If you quit you get nothing.

If it's really that bad, consider going to HR and negotiating an exit package. Explain that you've been a dedicated employee but your current management is making things hostile and you'd rather not turn it into a protracted legal fight. HR may look at the case and decide it's better to pay you to quit than to have you stick around until you're fired and then fight it.

Have you tried talking to him about it?

Maybe say like hey I feel like theres some tension between us and I was wondering if there was something wrong that Ive been doing or something like that. Bring up the issue without explicitly saying hey I looked at your email and it was about me and what the fuck does that mean.

I would go to HR and tell them that he left his email open and he wrote a nasty email about you. You can't get in trouble if you didn't go through his emails, and I assume there's cameras there to prove you didn't.
