I'm sorry TC.

Lost my father to sarcoma cancer in November 2014. It was one of the hardest experiences I've had. Just be there with your family and try to remember even the horrible experiences like this are important to share with the people you love.

It's not something you can just say "no don't do it it's bad".

Yes, sure, some people won't want to go through that. Others however may enjoy it enough that they feel a few extra years in a retirement home isn't worth giving it up.

The most important thing is that you make your own choice regarding it, rather than letting people push you either way on the issue.

(With that being said, don't forget that vapes exist. Often cheaper, too.)

Fair. But my dad is only 50. So I feel like I'm pretty justified in saying that smoking is fucking horrible for you and you probably shouldn't do it.

Smoking is horrific all around. If it's not cancer, the end stage COPD will make you wish you were dead. Imagine always feeling like you ran a marathon - even when laying down.

It's fascinating to me in this case because relatively speaking his lungs are fine. What's killing him is the metastases in the bones, spiking his calcium through the fucking roof and we can't keep it down. It may also be in his brain as well. It's just altogether unpleasant but it all started in his lungs.

When we first got the diagnosis, his lungs were full of liquid, but now that's not even a problem. It's all bones now.

I lost my Mum to lung cancer and she wasn't a smoker. You're right though, there's no good reason to add to the risk.

Be honest with each other in the time you have, never finish a conversation angry or with an unfinished thought and I hope you have people that you can count on and talk to at this time.
