No, Sophie Turner was a terrible Jean Gray. I think this one is gonna flop hard.

Not even a little bit.

Looking forward to that Marvel reboot where we can see them handle this Phoenix plot right, with the sentinels, and whole Shi'ar succession drama, and the hellfire club's inner circle, and everything.

This is like the most popular comic book story of all time, you're not going to just abbreviate this in a single movie with hardly any set up. Someone pink slip Singer already.

I can't believe that boy george lookalike is only 21 years old, she's a fucking baby. Born in 96 and in both a tv show and movie? Good lord I feel old.

Yeah, the cartoon had multiple episodes building it up.

Didn't even know it was happening.

Hard to get excited by any comic book movie these days because it's like every month there's a new one now.

No. Jean Grey has been my favorite X-Man since I was a small child, and I don't think they're going to do the story (or her) justice.

It might not do so well if they don't have Wolverine in it and if he isn't seen in any advertising. Wasn't Logan the last time Hugh Jackman would play Wolverine?

I think I'm gonna miss the type of X-Men movies we've had and that unique feel when they just become part of the Disney Marvel superhero hegemony.

I don't know.

the last movie was less than stellar. I liked it but....it could have been better.

disney is now to going to make their own xmen movies probably. these fox ones will dwindle away so there is not much future left for the series

the original source material of this story takes the xmen into space. but the movie has been announced to be grounded on earth. this kinda pisses me off. I am sick of the movies limiting the stories. this is just like when they fucked up how Peter found the symbiote in Spiderman 3. in the comics Peter was on another planet when he discovered it, and took it himself to earth. it didn't just fall onto earth from space

Nope. I love X-Men.
But Jean is and always will be Famke. And the movies as far as I'm concerned ended with DOFP. Perfect ending. Apocalypse was soooo bad and this girl was soooo terrible as Jean. Not to mention, Apocalypse spoilers, she bloody summoned and mastered the Phoenix powers in about 2 minutes flat. So what the hell is this plot all of a sudden anyway? It can't be the origin as she already had it. It clearly isn't an alien entity that possesses her either. As again, she already had them.

Someone working on it already said that the 'outer space' element is gonna be pretty much Fantastic Four.

They're gonna have some random mission in Earth Orbit. and Jean gets hit by some solar cosmic dust ray juice, and then bam Phoenix. Also they're going to be butthurt at Xavier for making them go to space at all, literally complaining about the thing people wanted the most out of the movie.

The butthurt part almost makes sense, in the way that Xavier controlling these kids is realistically fucked up, but the movie isn't some psycological look at why the X-men are fucked up, it's just a shitty Dark Phoenix story with a little hint of something being wrong.

I feel like all the time I hear people working on any superhero movie saying they are "exploring" this new element to a character or the story, getting deeper into the psychological shit and how crazy real superheros would really be, and that exploration ends up being like 2sentences vaguely about something.

The only one I can think of that was almost actually 'exploring' some deep concept was Super, and even that wasn't even super interesting.

Actually they pushed it back to next year to make it more horror-y because the test screenings didn't like it so much, and the director wanted it to be more horror focused anyway.

They also moved Deadpool ahead 2 weeks, so now it's coming out like literally 2 weeks after Infinity War.
