Why the fuck did Harry break the Elder Wand?

Like, I totally understand the angle of him being worried about getting drunk on the power or some shit

But just because Voldemort is dead, doesn't mean there won't come along another hella powerful evil wizard.

Wouldn't it make sense to, oh, I don't know, keep the wand in case it's needed? Y'know, for insurance?

Anyone feel me?

because he wasnt consumed with power
he was attached to his old wand and that was good enough for him. he used the elder wand to fix his unfixable wand and that was all he needed from it.

harry was worthy of ownership of all 3 deathly hollows and the fact that he didnt want the power was the clearest sign of that

Okay but like that seems even dumber because hey, someone else can get it. Yeah I know it won't "answer" to anyone but Harry, but even when Voldemort used it without it answering to him, it was still powerful as shit.

apparently both harry and ron were offered auror jobs right away so they didnt need to finish their schooling

hermione did go back for her final year and became the wizarding worlds version of a civil right lawyer

The book and movie make it clear that the people who owned the elder wand where targets of assassination. If you destroy the elder wand no one is going to try to kill you to get it.

In the books Harry is still the master of the elder wand and has the possibility to use it whenever he feels (although he places it back inside Dumbledores tomb so not likely he ever will).

He felt that carrying around the wand itself invited challenge

Yeah Dumbledore had a real problem with being assassinated for most of the 60 years he owned it.
