The funny thing is, most of the races occur in places that are not a puritanical about beauty as The US is, which is arguably where this all got started. In fact, most of the outfits are rather conservative in all locations.

This grid girls thing is just one of many slip ups tbh, the last few years it's become such politically correct bollocks it's ridiculous.

I used to watch F1 religiously, hell I even got a motorsport engineering degree with the intention of working in it one day, but I've completely lost interest in it.

It's horrible seeing such a passionate sport get run into the ground, especially when it's all so needless...

Why is everyone here blaming political correctness or women or some separate entity for this? It's downsizing just like any other job, this is F1 saving money. Why focus on grid girls when you can save money on a few salaries and instead focus more on the ad plastered cars and race suits? Grid girls may be outdated but this is business being business.

They literally ruined an arguably perfect logo, for a downgraded generic logo.

Probably very little relative to everything else but every bit adds up. Key here is no one buys tickets just because they see grid girls. They're not revenue generating. So cutting out whatever they paid is still a net positive. It's unlikely the venue provided them free of charge, for similar events I know that the event coordinator is responsible for finding local talent and paying them on a contract basis to work events. Still costs to do and doesn't pay dividends, that's what business jump to cut first.

Ya, I know I get it. When selling soda at an event they count the cups, and all that.
But it should be noted that the gird girls are part of the imaging of the sport, which is very valuable.
F1 is considered the cleaner higher class moto sport, in high-class places with high-class woman..etc.
That has been part of its image for a while. So for pennies they are throwing aways a huge part of their image.

I do understand your point though. It's all about the bottom line nowdays.
Noone seems to understand that you need to spend money to make money anymore.
