I had more responsibilities in college and high school. It's like I do less overall work now, but at the end of 2 weeks, I get a bigger paycheck than what I had during college.

In a lot of ways, I'm actually less stressed now. Adulting has been easy minus office politics.

You can always just be real with it and say these people are weak willed and you're not, you know. No need to sugarcoat it. Congratulations, that will of yours may definitely carry you far,far away from the trash

I think it's just because I had immigrant parents. I was already doing a lot of adulting (taxes, bills, property disputes, etc) stuff for them because they didn't speak English. So when I moved out, all that stuff was already stuff I was already doing it.

I don't think my will is particularly strong.

Same

No muss or fuss working 9-5, easy does it. No loads of tests or essays or anything.

I understand that the routine can drive some people nuts, but there's no reason for it to be so widespread as it is.

I went back and am loving it. There's this sense of community there. Being around so many people really cheers you up. Just like being alone depresses you.

Yeah I've lost a lot of friends. I moved right after college. Made some new friends in the new state. Then I move back to my home state after a few years and all my old friends and I don't get along any more. It's like we're different people now.

Yeah, that part can be surprisingly hard.

Sometimes, you change for the better and others change for the worse, but usually you just drift apart. You're still technically "happy", but when you realise old friends aren't friends anymore you feel like you're missing something somehow.

This. So much.

I'm only mid way through high school and I already know that if I become a NEET for more than a few years I'm going to kill myself and be with God. If I can't actually contribute anything to the world, than what's the point in even being here, you know?

Life sucks.

I hear many avoid adulthood and opt into creating troll topics on the internet for another 10-15 years.

Majority of the people, especially people I grew up with. We're stupid about stuff. So many of them believed that it was a necessity to go to college or your life was garbage. Not just commute but dorm too. They all took out stupid loans, either dropped out or got a dumb degree. You know how many people I know with a degree in something stupid and they're working at some dead end 10 dollar an hour job because of it

I graduated like a month early so I could go to boot camp. I'm closer friends with those guys than these college bffs. Did my time, got my money and deployment. Now I'm out. Am I rich? No but I'm miles ahead better off than 99 percent of the people I went to high school

My best friend from high school still works at Menards in our hometown. Which everyone still lives there except 2 people. One of them being me. Now I live in one of the biggest vacation destinations in the country as police with a big house and a brand new car. I get messages every weekend from people I haven't spoke to since senior year asking me if they can stay in my place to avoid paying a hotel

It can be different for many people, and of course not everyone gets depressed. But some factors could include:

-College friends moving away for jobs, now you don't have many/any friends
-You moving away for a job, not knowing anyone, single, and end up miserable
-People start having very serious relationships, getting married, and you're still single
-Harder to meet people to hang out with after college.
-The daily grind of getting up everyday and going to work--knowing this is all there is left.
-Being shoved into a career path out of desperation or lack of options---you may not hate the job, it may pay decent, but it's really not what you wanted and you could feel trapped.
