Haki doesnt protect against nen. Remember the arena arc, where all the dudes they were fighting were horribly deformed? Thats because they were attacked by nen users without previously learning it themselves, and the strength of the nen used to do that would be tiny compared to the nen of the royal guards.

Seriously, his final life sacrificing attack merely left some scratches on Meruem. The fight was cool but in the end even Netero was powerless. Now, could a Royal Guard endure Neteros attacks as Meruem did? It's a tough call but I want to say probably not.

That did happen, but hearing it got Netero all revved up and he went to meditate or whatever to draw out his full power. The ant also had no idea that Neteros ability is broken as hell.
