Such a stupid fucking thing to hate to begin with. All this "this generation" crap. But the worst thing is you've got twenty somethings or thirty somethings talking about it when they're milennials themselves.

Gah.

Just don't use a generation's name as an insult. You look stupid doing it no matter what. Every gen is stupid. Every gen's fucked stuff up. Previous ones have done much worse and are mostly to blame for most of the shit people bitch about millennials for. This generation's full of entitled pussies? Blame the parents who raised them which in most cases would be generation x.

I think these people know, but their mindset is along the lines of "I'm not like the rest of my peers, I'm sophisticated and don't fall into the same traps as everyone else."

Which is ironically kind of a snowflake mentality.

No, it's more like those born in their early-to-mid '80s to mid-to-late '90s
So the absolute largest range is 1980-1999 (so 19 - 38) and the smallest is 1984-1996 (22 - 34)
People who are 13 are Generation Z

that means I am one of the first millennials then cause I am exactly 36. I don't know how I feel about that

even if we are all millenials, I do think there is some difference between someone born in 1981 and experiencing the 80's and pre internet and people born in the 90's and growing up with a modem in their house from birth.

That pretty much is how it works. And why no one can agree on what age range any particular generation is.

I don't know. I hate that too. It's fucking stupid. There's no such thing as a generation. People just like to label and categorize things I guess.

What if the people we're "passing blame to" legitimately created problems that we can't solve? Because m8, that has happened in many aspects in life and the worst part is they refuse to die and go the fuck away so we're just languishing in the shitty world they created as they criticize us for it.

While the consensus for what the age range of a Millennial varies, their parents would not be exclusively Gen X, many, if not most Milliennials' parents would be Baby Boomers.

Tune them out. People of all ages are gonna bitch about something. This thread, for instance.

Figure out what the problems are and fix them in the order in which you find them to be most important. Worry about what you can control and let go of what you can't.

From my understanding, it's reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century. So someone 35-36 would fall under that category. I'm not sure if you can truly be counted as a millennial in you were born in 2000 or after.

cultural generations are supposed to group people by common circumstance. otherwise, they'd all be the same length. No one is going to convince me that those who grew up pre-Internet should be in the same group as those who grew up with it. if that means "Gen X" is half a decade longer than it "should be", so be it.

but, honestly, I await the day no one gives a shit about the concept. especially if it's become this worthless.

Generations are pretty arbitrary when they make them such a huge age range. Boomers and Millenials have like a 20+ year range. I'd argue that Boomers have an even stranger cultural gap.

In Boomers case there's many that don't remember a pre civil rights movement time in America. Imagine being black and growing up while you have all of these terrible shitty things happen to you that are perfectly legal. Then some little punk thats supposedly in your same generation doesn't remember a time when there were separate bathrooms and water fountains.

To be honest I think there is a very real generational gap between younger millenials and older millenials. The older ones among us experienced the end of analog and the dawn of digital while the younger really only know the digital world. It's more complex than that but I there's something different by being old enough to remember the world before controversies erupted in 140 characters or less.
