Not so subtly trying to rewrite white people from history? Its not offensive that most of the key players in world history have been white. People arent stupid enough to see that shit and think that any of those things are real.

It wouldn't be entirely farfetched to have a black Roman soldier. That Empire spread far and wide and assimilated plenty of cultures and stray people.

in theory, yes.
but why would an African Legionary get sent all the way to cold Britain?
surely, his Legion would be stationed in or around Africa?

Are these shows meant to be historically accurate? If not then I don't see what the issue here is.

One's Robin Hood. One's King Arthur. One's Doctor Who.

What do you think?

Except that the African lands the Romans conquered were all in North Africa near the Mediterranean so not really. If so theyd be the exception. The average Libyan or Algerian doesnt look the same as the average guy from the Congo. There was at least one Roman emperor that was born in Africa though - Septimius Severus.

Most of the other pictures though...yeah, come on.

Isn't it a carryover from Shakespearean theater that anyone can play anyone? Not that these are Shakespearean productions, but if you can't borrow a totally harmless and inclusive idea from the master, what can you borrow?

on second thought, after looking into it, i guess it could be possible, as i am seeing claims from historians that Rome chose to occupy it by several different groups of people "almost by design".

but if that's true, i'm curious why these peoples left barely any trace behind them.
