That becomes apparent pretty early into teacher education, in my experience anyway.

There's a lot of admin and noise that comes with any occupation. The only exception might be student, if you consider that an occupation, but there's still some non-academics to worry about there.

What I meant is what the core role of the job is. Like for a teacher, it would be to teach. For an engineer, it'd be to design. For a performer, it'd be to perform.
