Fat Tuesday is the English translation of Mardis Gras. It was basically something else to call it, but now I only see people saying Fat Tuesday. How did that happen?

Interesting indeed. I think it is regional thing. First time I remember hearing Fat Tuesday was during MTV's Spring Break, because that was the place they'd broadcast at in Cancun.

When you are not in LA I take it people use that term, just to show that Lent is coming up. When they are talking about the party it is Mardis Gras.

I think very few people are saying it in reference to Lent... Especially not the strip club I'm hoping to go to tonight.

Well that is just odd, you might be in some odd place in the world. I never heard it used to promote something like booty.

And it kinda is a southern holidays. Most schools and work places had an off day. Some places were off Monday and today.

HOWEVER
If you go to North Louisiana, like say Shreveport or Alexandria, those poor buggers did not have off any day.....
