Was it the entrance theme? The head bob? The frog splash? The chest guard? He was nothing special in the ring. I know Ive always been down with the Brown.

....is it crazy that I don't remember this guy at all? I was started watched wrestling back in ~Mid 2000 and stopped watching it shortly after the Invasion story line which was around April 2001. However I played Smackdown 1 through 4 A LOT back then as well as No Mercy and maybe a few other wrestling games.

That's why you don't remember him. He was mostly active in 98 and 99, by mid 2000 the Droz incident already happened and he had been getting slowly depushed and jobbing to people like Essa Rios

Its hilarious how Lita and Essa Rios debuted together and Lita is the one who became a legend

I swear the WWE, low-key, had the worst mid-card and low card guys with exception to Edge/Christian and the Hardys around 99/2000.

Hell I mean look at the roster of WWF Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64. Outside of the first two stables, a bunch of scrubs.

Road Dogg is a gimmick "wrestler" who relies on those boring punches.
D'Lo was talented, but didn't do anything for me.
Godfather "oh look at me, I have hos I'm cool and my music is awesome!"
Val Venis "oh hey guys...I do sexual innuendos...I'm cool!"
Goldust "oh hey guys I do sexual innuendos I'm cool!"
Billy Gunn seemed to have a disappointing career as he always was hyped up to be a guy on the up-rise.
Jeff Jarrett. "oh look at me - I hit women and all of my signature moves are stolen from Ric Flair and Bret Hart! Also, literally everyone hates me."
Al Snow "hey more sexual innuendos"

WCW cruiserweights >> these guys except Goldust because Goldust is awesome

Fair enough but I'm reading his Wikipedia page and it shows that he was active at least a bit in the early 2000's. I would have just thought that he would be in some of those Smackdown games but maybe not.

I think in the early 2000s or so he was competing on Heat more often.

I do think it's odd that you'd recognize Jeff Jarrett but not D'Lo unless you were also watching WCW at the time

I remember him specifically due to one of those N64 wrestling games. Too lazy to try and figure out which one.

Eh, my mom would not really let me back then. Heck, she wouldn't really let me watch it in in 2000 either but I would watch it when she wasn't around. I only got into it because a lot of people would talk about it at school. Back then I was in 6th/7th grade. Eventually I got bored of it though. I'm extremely ignorant of anything that happened before that time and I didn't even know about this whole Droz incident until this topic.

it seemed like he could have been big. he wasn't the best worker but he was better than most. he wasn't the best talker but he talked well enough. he had top tier entrance and finisher, he was close to really connecting with the fans I think. but the time he could have been pushed to the main even it was already packed with rock, Austin, mankind, taker, etc.

I think he was just likable.

He wasn't bad in the ring, kinda goofy fun on the mic, had that awesome head bobble, catchy theme, nice finishers, the leg drop.

IDK.

But one thing I specifically remember about D'Lo was marking out when they showed his leg drop in a commercial for WrestleMania 2000. Something about that being in was a big deal for me. I think it had to do with integrating taunts and theatrics with actual moves in a video game.

I mean he's not wrong

If you paid attention to any of his heel work you'd notice he was pretty heavily featured and connected with the fans well

He's not in the same league as those guys though obviously

I totally agree. Honestly may have been my favorite midcarder of all time.

Does anybody remember his last run in the WWE? They brought him back for like two months tops and then released him. What a waste.
