Ok fine. Theres this girl in class who I really, really like who had a boyfriend so I didn't pursue. I got back together with my ex because literally every girl in my class had a boyfriend and I was scared of being alone. Now today I find out the girl I like is suddenly single and won't go out with me now because unlike me she isn't a terrible person.

Because I lost a friend on here over getting back with my ex and to be honest it will hurt worse to tell Kara I want to see someone else after spending Valentine's Day with her.

well its the reality...don't waste time on both parts..it will hurt both but you can't hold on to something you have no interest in because you're afraid to hurt someone.

I had a similar situation many years ago.

I was about to break up with my ex, so I asked out a girl I had a crush on. The girl said no because she didn't want to be a rebound.

A few months later, I was still in touch with my ex, but then that girl I asked out started hanging on with me more. Then I got with her. And shortly after I got back with my ex. And I had two girlfriends at the same time, which I had no idea how to handle. I was so overwhelmed that I fell into a deep depression and managed to convince both of them that I needed space to recover by myself from my depression. Neither found out what was going on.

It felt like shit, tbh.

You know my family would treat me like crap if I did do that right? They'd expect me to do the honorable thing and stay with her because "it is the right thing to do." Sometimes I dislike coming from a family with such high moral fiber.

Yeah, really. It's more moral to lie to her and pretend you want to be with her than to tell her the truth? Sounds to me like the hang-up isn't with doing the immoral thing, it's with admitting that you did the immoral thing and coming clean. If you leaving her is going to make her sad, then the only way you can avoid making her sad is by never leaving her. If you're not prepared to do that, then the earlier you rip the band-aid off the less it will hurt.
