Booked a flight too last minute and prices were top high on virgin so I booked SW.

theres no assigned seating. Is it first come first serve?

You board based on when you check into your flight online (starting 24 hrs before takeoff) and its first come first serve

You can pay extra to get priority seating

Yeah, you get on the plane in a certain order based on if you're in Boarding A, B, or C, but then once you're on the plane, you pick what seat you want. Protip: if you're flying with another person and you don't mind being near the emergency exit, take that one. You get more leg space and the only other person next to you will be your friend.

Well, since it's Southwest.

First they look for passengers that have all their teeth, which usually they strike out on. If they do find one or two, those guys fly first class. Which basically means on Southwest that they get a bag of snacking nuts.

Next they see if anyone isn't wearing flip flops. They board them next, which is about 10 or so.

Then they board the remaining stinky people.

Thanks guys. Im flying alone as of now and don't really mind sitting wherever. It's a short flight Sfo-las but was just kinda curious how it worked.

If I can get emergency, I definitely will.

I've flown alaska/virgin which are by far my favorite.

Aerlingus and delta that weren't bad.

United which sucks

Spirit which is God awful and I'm lucky to be alive.

I've always heard good things about southwest from cost to quality to customer service. Was this all a lie? Have I made a grave error?

Oh dood... you flew Spirit? Nothing is worse than that, so in this case Southwest will be about half as bad as your Spirit adventure, and only half as good as Alaska.

Yea id told my cousin that I wasn't going to make his 21st bday (he was doing Vegas) because money was tight to my aunt called me and said she'd booked my flight (spirit) and that I'd be staying in my cousins room.

On the way back the turbulence (which is normally bad in Vegas during the hot months) was absolutely horrible and I thought we were gonna fall out of the sky. I've probably flown 3 dozen times over the last 6 years or so and that was the only time I was ever freaked out.

I flew once on Spirit and a couple times on Southwest. Neither were as bad as United.
