Pretty sure that the florida school shooter has a public defender. Saw a picture of him and her. I think there are two. Maybe they aren't too happy that they have to defend him. Wouldn't you be? But i don't think they have a choice.

They can't refuse to defend someone unless there's a conflict of interest but it's not like they have to actually defend him, he's going to plead guilty

Money is money. Its not like they became public defenders without the prior knowlege that they would get cases like this.

Most people with jobs like that arent even phased by shit like this. Im sure the two of them lose no sleep over it.

Yes, legally unless there's some conflict of interest or something making you unfit for the case then you have to represent them. If you don't do it, intentionally hurt their case, or break confidentiality you risk not only losing your job but even being disbarred.
