Apparently the 20% of teachers that he wants to give guns to don't count as teachers. Therefore, he does not want to give guns to teachers.

Do teachers get an additional pay bump, due to the dangerous situation they are now being thrust into?

I think a more sensible solution is for more security in the school.

What about outside the school? A shooter can be anywhere. At a park, mall, streets. Arming teachers will not solve the problems in this country.

As a teacher, me having a gun wouldn't protect students unless I am literally holding it pointed at the door, safety off, whiteboard marker in the other hand at all times. The attacker is almost always going to be a first strike instigator and simply being armed isnt going to do much against such an attacker.

I suppose you have the luxury of teachers from another room going in guns blazing after the attack has already occurred. But a lot of damage could still be done in that time.

You can legally do that in the state of Florida with a license. Clubs, schools, movie theaters, police stations and federal buildings (workers are armed btw,) parts of an airport and theme parks are all places you aren't allowed to carry.

Because you are naive if you think they aren't going to shame and pass over people who don't want any part of gunplay, this is the same country that got pissed at a few people not standing for the national song you really think a teacher will be able to get away with saying they don't want to carry a gun and will not carry a gun when several of their comrades are carrying and willing? Nobody said it was. I'd prefer to have more security and armed guards. If 1 or 2 teachers would like to be armed (passing tests to do so), then that's fine with me too. It wouldn't determine whether or not they get the job either.

I can't imagine the subject of guns would come up in the interview or hiring process. Teachers have unions, and those unions will be there to ensure such a thing won't happen. Chill.

Not like making schools "gun-free zones" has saved any lives. Mass shootings happen almost exclusively in gun-free zones.
