You'll often see gun owners citing the need to protect themselves as the reason for owning guns.

They often think and fantasize about scenarios where evildoers enter their home and what they can do to counter this.

I'd think with all of these negative thoughts that these people must be going to bed scared every night, maybe even wetting their beds.

Fucking sad but really illustrates the paranoia of a gun owner

That guy in the video probably wet himself before the gun came down

depends on where you live. some places theres reason for some caution.

i used to live in detroit's east side for a few years. that was an interesting time. one of the guys i went to school with for my GED ended up getting killed a in drive by a few weeks after i finished. on his own familys porch steps too.

The point is that having something for protection does not mean you're scared of everything.

Ask anyone who claims otherwise if they would feel more scared or less scared if they had this sign in front of their neighbor's house:

First of all, there is nothing wrong with having a plan in case something goes down. You act as though we are drooling at the thought of filling someone with lead every second of every day. No law abiding gun owner wants to shoot or kill anybody but we also realize that a criminal may not hold us in the same regard.

Second, no I am not afraid to go to sleep because I live in a relatively safe area, have flood lights, a dog, and of course, a S&W M&P 9mm and 12 gauge Remmington. :)

As a gun owner, I am in a constant state of tension. From the moment I step into my house, I have to be prepared not only to operate a firearm at a moment's notice, but also to kill a person, should he or she break into my house.

During the day, I have a gun on my person at all time, safety off. I will constantly draw my weapon and aim it at a doorway or window throughout the day as I go about my life, doing mundane activities such as cooking or watching TV.

The only downfall to this method is that I am no longer able to shower, as it is a HUGE security risk to be nude, unarmed, and covered in water. As a result, I've created a sponge-bath cleaning method I call the "left arm/right arm method," where I will switch my handgun from my left arm to my right arm as I use these arms to clean quadrants of my body, occasionally taking a quick break

One of the keys to my success in keeping my home defended is to schedule regular alarms. Every 20 minutes, I have a loud alarm that will go off, even when I am sleeping. I will immediately wake up, grab the rifle in bed next to me, and BAM! BAM! BAM! fire off a few rounds into the wall in front of me. While this interrupts my sleep schedule (which you get used to after a few months), it also gives me a sense of security that I cannot imagine without a gun.

Its a double bed, highly doubt whoever is using it is sleeping with anyone else at night or banging anyone on that bed.

Go ahead and give me one reason why a civilian buys a firearm for civilized life other than out of some irrational fear that their doom is impending dependent on their ability to shoot a guy who has entered their home and is out to kill them.

They're dangerous weapons though that shouldn't be turned into sport. Whats next, we make grenade throwing legal? Because that's fun and they're cool to collect?

Maybe those kids would still be alive if they hadn't tried robbing the place, instead of being criminals breaking into a person's house. I have zero sympathy for them and if they broke into to someone's house they should know "if the owner has a gun they will use it to protect what is theirs and they are RIGHT to do so.

Guns are for self defense, hunting, collecting, and for recreation.

Shooting targets has been a sport for a long time, no reason people can't enjoy doing that.

Guns also keep women safe and less of a target for assault or rape because a gun gives women a means of defending themselves.

I already had my gun keep a girl and me safe not 10 minutes from my house over a decade ago, if I was not armed she would have been gang raped and I would likely be dead or permanently paralyzed.

@ChainedRedone

Was a year after I was finished high school, did not have a car or anything yet, this girl I was seeing at the time and I were going walking back to her house after a party at a friend's house. There is a small wooded area behind a school that people walk through(it's a public area) which is 5 minutes from her house, 10 from where I used to live, a group of 4 people were just hanging out there and we later found out was a gang that had attacked other people. I gave them plenty of space as we walked and half way trough the area they made their way over to us, 2 of them had knives and 1 had brass knuckles, I pushed her behind me to where a fence was to she could get away if needed and drew my concealed handgun.

The leader was half surprised half terrified, I told them I did not want to kill anyone of them but if they pushed it all 4 of them would be shot, the one guy who was without a weapon just took off running after that leaving the group, the other three backed off slowly. When they were all the way across on the other side of the field I moved off and kept watching to make sure they stayed gone.

The girl was not happy I was armed but was happy not to be a victim, she felt they would have left us be if we gave them money, I told her "it's not money they were after, they would have likely raped you and killed me, those knives were not for show". I broke up with her the next day since she wanted me to stop carrying a gun even though it kept us safe.

I have never dated anyone anti gun after that because of that stupid BS mindset she had.

Doesn't seem like projection to me. Republicans seem scared out of their mind and rely on the fear of their voter base to remain in power. Which also explains why they are in bed with the religious right as Christianity is a religion of fear.
