I'm actually afraid it's going to take a trained, smart individual to commit a gun atrocity on a scale so much larger and deadlier than we've ever had for just some common sense gun laws to be put in place, honestly.

First its assault weapons that commit mass murders. Now libs wanna change the narrative to handguns but say they dont want a blanket gun ban.

How much more dishonest can they get?

Wow, that went way over your head, huh? The idea is that the guy should not have been able to purchase any gun because he is mentally disturbed. It isnt saying handguns should be banned.

False its implying a mass shooting is about to take place and the weapon of choice is the handgun the man is carrying. Pretty scummy misrepresentation.

If thats honestly your main takeaway, you might want to work on your critical thinking skills. The artist went out of his way to make the kid look as deranged as possible. Its very clear that the main point is that we should be worried about mentally ill people having unfettered access to guns, not which firearm is being specifically used.

Using the false premise that hanguns are the weapons of choice in mass shootings. Not surprised since facts seem to escape libs when it counters their narrative.

Maybe he's gonna go hold up a cashier at the Safeway

Not that that'd be a good place to do a hold up but still

The whole idea is that "the rest of us" are afraid somebody is going to use the gun, regardless of the gun type, to harm another person.

So the extremely rare chance that a mass shooter kills you worries you more than a tyrannical government (that already has a corrupt police force) taking away the populace's diplomacy?

Once again, the gun hes carrying is irrelevant to the point of that cartoon. Im sorry you are unable to interpret context and subtext.

I mean, the first one happens weekly or more and the second has yet to happen

I'm pro second amendment, but the logic of keeping guns against the chance of a corrupt government is absolutely ridiculous

I gave up on anything ever happening after the Vegas shooting. 50 dead and not a thing was done. They didn't even address bump stock devices. Would have seemed like a good compromise and something to point at to say you did something, at the very least. Nah not this country.

We're already way past the point of the population being able to do anything against the gov't. Any serious insurrection will be drone striked before it knows what happened to it. We're just on the long slow decline to totalitarianism now.

Nope sorry the type of gun is relevant and that is the more nuanced point here.

Give an inch take a mile as seen by the inaccurate representation in this cartoon.

All sorts of shit happens weekly that will be less likely to kill you than your chance of winning the lottery.

And yes, it is unlikely to happen, but it's a deterrent. Just like the entire philosophy behind nuclear weapons. Hate them as you may but the fact that they exist means that any country wanting to assert its sovereign interests needs them.
