No wonder he looks so sleepy-eyed.

How is this dude 32. HOW

Every picture I see him he looks late 40s at best.

Seriously. Even if you still support trump in all this your positions must be:

-yeah Page did X and Y, but trump didn't know about that! He never would have worked with him if he knew.

-yeah manafort did X and Y... But trump didn't know about that!! No way!

-yeah gates/flynn/trumpjr/kushner/etc did X and Y, but trump had no knowledge of their unsavory dealings.

The only "innocent trump" is a trump that has managed to be blind to the wrongdoings of sn absurd number of his associates. If you are somehow still trump loyal despite the wealth of reasons not to be then that starts with the perceived guilt of people like Carter Page.

I mean, a lot of these you could easily just not care that much about mid level staff.

Like...Paul Manifort was the second of three campaign managers, and lasted for a couple months before getting fired.

Carter Page is an oil industry lobbyist, and was briefly a campaign adviser during the campaign.

For example, Obama hired (and then subsequently fired) Mike Flynn. I paid no attention to this at the time. Trump also hired and then fired Flynn. HOW CAN CONSERVATIVES NOT BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS??? Probably the same way I didn't when Obama did it.

(Now, with Trump there seem to be a lot of such stories relative to the average administration, with one of the highest turnover rates of any administration and a lot of those being people who were fired. But you have to be paying attention to a lot of these individual stories to notice the larger pattern there, and none of these stories individually are stories you're likely to read in detail if you happen to already like Trump).

In this particular case though, isn't there reporting that Obama explicitly warned Trump in their meeting before the inauguration about Flynn? Not to mention the various DoJ (think it was justice, at least?) warnings too that were ignored for weeks before anything was done (and when he was fired it was for "lying" to Pence rather than the actual substance)

Yes, you could conceivably ignore one of the situations if you were to look at it in a vacuum. But we don't live in a vacuum, and they have all received a substantial amount of coverage including coverage that covers them as a group and as an existing pattern.

I'm seeing headlines about Donald announcing his 2020 campaign...what?

Can't look into them yet, but I know Donald applied with the FEC to be a candidate last year on the day of his inauguration. I think this is over a year earlier than the next earliest reelection bid too -- Obama in about April 2011.

Is the advantage here campaign funding (in a way he wasn't already getting from the FEC as mentioned above), shutting down primary challengers, dominating the news cycle, show of strength...? I don't get it.

THINKPROGRESS - NRA refuses to answer senators questions about funding from Russia

Earlier this month, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) issued a pair of letters demanding information on any financial links between the NRA and Moscow, or between the NRA and Russian nationals. The questions came after McClatchy reported that the FBI was investigating whether Alexander Torshin a Russian national who happens to be an NRA member, as well as the NRAs main liaison in Russia had used the NRA to funnel funds to Donald Trumps presidential campaign. Torshin, described by The Daily Beast as a Putin ally, has a history of laundering Russian money in Europe, according to Spanish investigators.

Instead of answering Wydens request, however, the NRA issued a terse letter denying that it received any funds from Moscow specifically designed to influence the election.

As a longstanding policy to comply with federal election law, the NRA and its related entities do not accept funds from foreign persons or entities in connection with United States elections, NRA secretary and general counsel John Frazer wrote to Wyden. Frazer added that the FBI has not contacted the NRA, and that McClatchys coverage refers to an investigation of Mr. Torshin not of the NRA.

https://thinkprogress.org/nra-moscow-letter-response-ce606fc127ed/

I've seen these articles occasionally trickling in the past few months from different sources each time...seems like reporters are scared to jump right onto this.

I get it, but if Russia and the NRA are in any way linked then that's huuuuuuuuge considering the NRA gave Donald $30,000,000 from a wing of theirs that doesn't have to report where its money came from.

http://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/02/27/florida-house-panel-rejects-ban-on-assault-weapons/

Relevant bit:

The goal: 10 marshals (teachers trained to carry a gun) in every school, which would equate to 37,000 statewide. The state would cover the costs of background checks, drug testing, psychological exams and 132 hours of training. The bill does provide a one-time $500 stipend for those who volunteer to have a gun.

A $500 stipend eh? I'm sure it's not a coincidence that it's about how much a glock costs. (Which I'm sure the state won't provide, so they'll have to buy their own)

"So teachers.. we now expect you to gun down a gunman in the event of an attack at the school. But we're going to give you a 132 hour course to train you, and a nice one time $500 bonus so you can buy a glock to do it with."

Does a teacher get to keep their stipend if they decide they don't like carrying their gun to school? Say after a year? Two years? Five? Like, they do this service awhile so they should be paid...but can they stop if at any point they decide they see too many negative changes in surrounding behaviors and decide it's not worth continuing? If so, do they pay back the school/state or do they keep their money for ever taking on that responsibility for a period of time?

(allowing teachers to be armed at school is a bad idea in my book anyway, but if this is happening let's talk about it)
