The problem is if you don't speak Japanese how do you know what is good Japanese action and what's bad Japanese acting? Its possible people are assuming the original is good because it's original. Though come on the original version of something can be badly acted too.

Really though? Most Japanese voices sound the same to me. There's the really high pitched girl, the slightly high pitched girl, and the other slightly high pitched girl. All girls are played by those three

You can't unweeb someone. Let them feel superior and hopefully they'll stay busy and potentially quiet.

not always true. In the sub for Grave of the Fireflies, there is no emotion in their aunt that they stay with with for a time. but in the dub, she has emotion in her voice.

Its probably because most people watching subs cant understand Japanese so they arent distracted by potentially bad acting.

English Dubs can convey just as much emotion. Though screaming at the top of ones lungs seems to be a Japanese seiyuu specialty. JYB had a pretty good DIIIIIOOOOOOOO though. >_>

I just hate when the sub doesnt match what the characters are saying. Like, I understand changing pop culture and references, but adding in weird curse words, wrong dialogue, and changing entire ambitions of characters bothers me.

So that's why I prefer dubs, so I dont have to deal with that. ( i lived in Japan, so I can understand some of the dialogue. It bothers me reading something that they arent saying)

One piece has a terrible dub and a very good dub. You are talking about the second dub which is great. Really if you want to see a bad dub search for the 4kids one piece. Then watch Funimations again and see how good it is.

I mean I don't think I've read a book in a few years, mostly been into full cast audio dramas lately

Dubs at the very least have improved quite a bit lately due to better support for it.

Though I'm impatient so I'll watch the sub as the first episode will air weeks before the dub.

Well as far as I can tell the subs get the whole context in there, though sometimes a much deeper message comes across that surprises me. Currently it's the only anise I'm watching and one of very few that I've watched mostly subbed.

Rumble in the Bronx is fucking awesome though.

The other advantage with subbed is that you get new episodes much earlier.

One piece has a very European feel to the setting and benefits from a good dub. For shows like that I prefer the English version.

Now to each their own but imo the one piece dub is really good and could have been worse as it did have a horrible dub for years.

If you actually look at the mouths in the Japanese dubs they often don't quite match up to the lip flaps either. You just don't notice as much since your reading during most dialogue.
