I think there's a place for a sporting competition on the scale of the Olympics in this world, and I greatly enjoy watching them. But the modern Olympics are a huge grift that rarely leaves hosting cities better off, and as more people recognize this fact, hosting the games will increasingly become the domain of undemocratic regimes. The IOC is in desperate need of reform.

They should ban hosting the Olympics in fringe cities that pay billions of dollars for useless things. LA is a city that can hold the Olympics without going billions in debt building stadiums that are only used for 1 month. Places like Sochi cant.
