Having three noms from him myself so far (Buzra, Scars, Koshien) a fourth might be selling my favorite composer bias way too strong lol. It's already killing me to not have Proof of the existence on here as well but I must hold back lol (granted i also have three mozell and four yasui.... whoops) A lot of other really strong picks that just miss out of the realm of what I'd consider on my own, so watching this going forward is going to be exciting as the flood continues to come in lol. i'll definitely make a post on some thoughts as things die down year of gokinjo ... We've already seen strong performances from Nekomata in Dark Legacy and Despair of Elferia (both retired in the last few years), so I imagine a good piece of his is certainly something to keep an eye on.

I'm kinda curious -- and this is just me musing out loud as an interested observer -- why people use their doubles early on.
Typically nominations go in a few distinct phases: 1. OMG NOMS ARE OPEN QUICK VOMIT UP 20 SONGS FOR EVERYONE! 2. Interested parties support songs they're totally on-board with. 3. People casually swap out their unsupported songs for new songs or to bolster other nominations. 4. More of step 3, except with a stronger emphasis on supporting. Songs are usually selected with the idea in mind of trying to get things into the contest, since the cut-off line is starting to form. 5. The deadline looms, and everyone frantically drops the songs that clearly won't get in in favor of songs that might have a chance. Now, because people in phases 3 onward will often specifically seek out songs that are not going to make the contest field, rather than ones that are already in, it usually makes sense to hold your doubles and wait in case somebody supports your song. Then, when the end comes, you can double down on anything that's at risk of just barely missing. In other words, doubles "rescue" 5 of your songs. I know I've asked this before, and I've gotten a variety of answers. If you aren't going to return to the thread again and just want to quit support some favorites, sure, that's sensible. But if you're using the philosophy of "I want people to know which ones I really care about," you're actually shooting yourself in the foot, because any song that gets in will usually need at least 3 unique users supporting it, and some people aren't going to look at a song that's at 3/2 up until maybe the last couple hours. Whereas if it was a 2/2, they might push it to 3/3, and then your double makes it a 4/3. Additionally, people will drop support from songs that are safely in the contest. Right now, Banbard ~piano arrange~ is at 5/3. I can pretty much guarantee you nobody else will support that song. But it's possible that the person with the single nom might pull back, leaving it at 4/2, because it's looking like anything with 4 votes gets in. Then if we were to find out the cut-off was 4/2, there's literally nothing those two people with the doubles can do to save their song. And if the cut-off is above 4/2, those two people are left holding the bag. (For the unfamiliar, that notation is "votes/users" -- a song you just tossed out and doubled is a 2/1. If you nominate something without doubling, and someone supports it, that's a 2/2. When it comes down to the deadline, a 2/2 will always be favored over a 2/1. Last year the cut-off was 3/3. All 4-vote songs got in, and some of the songs that had 3 votes from separate people. None of the 3s that had a double were considered for the bubble.) 2017 nominations: (votes - # of songs - cumulative total) 5/5 - 2 - 2 5/4 - 1 - 3 5/3 - 3 - 6 4/4 - 21 - 27 4/3 - 62 - 89 4/2 - 27 - 116 3/3 - 19 - 135 3/2 - 27 - 162 2/2 - 36 - 198 2/1 - 36 - 234 1/1 - 165 - 399 Anyway, I mention all of this not to criticize strategy, but to point out why I'll be holding my doubles until the very end. I don't really have a big stake in what gets in and am only going to end up throwing support around arbitrarily at songs I already know I like anyway, so my doubles don't have much value to me.
