so much better than frank burns who he replaced
frank's actor left the show because he was annoyed that his character wasnt allowed to grow and change where others were

Yeah unlike Frank he was actually charming. I had no idea he left because of the character but he's definitely right. Frank stayed an annoying sniveling rat to the very end and rarely had any moments where he was likable

it wasnt just him
trapper's actor left as well because of his character.
when he signed on to the show he thought he was the co-lead and didnt like that it turned out trapper was merely hawkeye's sidekick

margaret was also going to leave the show to be in the show laverne and shirley but her contract wouldnt let her leave

I have yet to get to an episode where I saw him as Major Winchester (I was watching M*A*S*H on DVD months ago, but stopped after I finished Season 3 - need to get back to it).

All the same, another good one rides into the sunset - RIP Major Winchester.
