I mean they never said the DS was a replacement for the GBA, in fact they originally made a statement saying how it wasn't replacing it.

Same thing they are doing now with the Switch and 3DS.

It was for just in case the DS didn't do so well.

Same thing with the Switch I'm guessing. Hell, they said the Switch wasn't gonna replace the Wii U as well but we knew that was a flat lie the moment they said it.

truthfully I don't know. I guess because they saw the duel screen as a gimmick and the GBA as something for more traditional games. In the end those traditional games just went on the DS anyways and the GBA died a slow death.

Perhaps this is why they haven't said anything about the switch killing the 3ds. This time they will lets whatever happens happen. And it seems the same thing is occuring. Developers are passing on the 3ds for the switch. This is causing a marrage of nintendos handheld and console systems. How this will end is anyone's guess.

The gba hadnt been out for long and there were still a number of games being made for it - you can look at the dates yourself, the gba did have releases for a good minute after the DS came out.

And because the DS was a whole new line of handhelds. It wasnt a new game boy, that line finished with the gba. Although yeah, now I guess the handheld and console lines are just fused

I really love my GBA. I think it's the best hand-held if you don't count your phone. Not that I like the games on my phone, it just has a lot of other uses.

Because people won't buy the old thing anymore if you tell them you're discontinuing it soon.

According to Google the last Nintendo released gba game was in 2006 and the final gba game was 2008
