But can't trust them to defend themselves until age 21. Really makes you think.

Unless Billy Bob was planning on purchasing a sniper rifle, what purpose would training serve? We allow 14 year olds to drive cars, which by the way, kill many more people each year than shootings.

Guns are easier to figure out than cars...yet cars most people can just get in and start driving them reasonably well.

Put your foot on the the key, put it in drive, push the gas. That requires minimal explanation and anyone observant enough to see someone else do it could easily pull it off without instruction.

This topic isn't about alcohol. It's about the government's inconsistency with how age is taken into consideration when firearms are involved, and it suggests the government finds citizens under 21 more expendable, if they are allowed (or forced in the past) to risk their lives to defend their country, but aren't permitted to defend themselves at home.

Are we talking about alcohol and gambling, or some new gun bill? The logic is fine. If you sign up for the military, you're voluntarily risking your life. If there was still a draft then sure that would suck. But drinking alcohol can actually lead to killing people by mistake.

It's fucking stupid that someone can forcibly be drafted to die before being allowed to drink or do any recreational activity.

Pretty sure nobody is at risk of a draft any time soon. Joining the military is an optional thing. Registering for the draft doesn't mean you have to go then and there

21 is a better age than 18. And anyone in the military should be able to get a military waiver that lets them buy guns no matter the age.

So what exactly does this mystical training entail? Seems to me that if it really stopped people from getting the urge to shoot up a school it would be more widely available.
