I played around 10 hours before dropping it. It wasn't awful, just dull. The main character was an unlikable nonentity. The rest of the cast was pretty whatever. Combat was serviceable but not that interesting.

There were a lot of things about the structure of the world that didn't seem to make sense -- it just felt bare-bones and shoddy. (minor spoilers in case you want to go in blind) Apparently, someone has to sacrifice themselves every so often to stop the ever-increasing monster attacks on villages. Setsuna, in her far-flung village, decides she wants to be a sacrifice, so...off she goes. But, like, is there anything special about her? Or can just anyone from anywhere be a sacrifice? Maybe there are any number of people independently heading to the Lost Lands to become sacrifices? Yet everyone refers to Setsuna as "the sacrifice" as if it's some kind of unique thing. These are kind of Anagram-esque complaints but you are Anagram so I figure it's relevant. Also I'm generally willing to overlook these sorts of things if the storytelling is otherwise strong, but...it wasn't. ALSO I guess it's possible this stuff gets explained later.

But yeah, not recommended.

I finished it. It's a thoroughly mediocre RPG that isn't necessarily bad but also isn't really good. I wouldn't recommend it unless you've played like literally every other better RPG there is.

The second game from the same people, Lost Sphear, is better but still not amazing.

The biggest problem I had with both of the games is that they both just feel incredibly soulless. Like they have no passion for the games they have made.

I didn't really enjoy it. The setting is incredibly dull (every place you go is pretty much an icy cave or snowy plain). Combat was OK, but certain fights near the end almost require very specific move combinations, which really annoyed me.

I actually didn't mind the story and characters, that was probably the only reason I got as far as I did. But once I got near the final dungeon, it was clear I would have to do a lot of aimless exploring and some grinding to finish, so I put it down.

Loved it. But I mean any jRPG that uses Chrono Trigger stuff has me hooked.

I can see where many people would not like it, but for me it was great.

People made a big deal about it when it was coming out for Switch. But it also remember it being pretty hyped when it first came out too. Weird that it's so mediocre according to you guys.

I remember a lot of pre-release hype, and then radio silence after release (except for Nick liking it). But I was like "Square-Enix RPG with Chrono Trigger and FFX inspiration what could go wrong." Apparently, a lot.

I don't think anything went wrong with it, really.

I just don't think much went really well with it either.

I enjoyed it while playing it. But it didn't make much of a lasting impression on me, either.
