I feel like watching a dark/bleak sci-fi film tonight, possibly with some screwy/erratic imagery here & there, and all of these sound interesting to me.

Yeah, the film's visual style is really cool to me; when I watched the trailer it actually kinda reminded me of James and the Giant Peach (1996).

Well I've done a bit more reading about Delicatessen & apparently it's not a dystopian sci-fi film at all. :/

I guess I kinda just assumed it was since it's considered the spiritual predecessor to The City of Lost Children & was directed by the same guys. Also the trailer is really weird & doesn't really tell you anything about the movie - though I can respect it for not wanting to give too much away.

Love Dark City. The only thing wrong with it is the dang villains. They are so dorky and stupid, I just could not take them seriously. Definitely a case of not seeing them would've made them scarier. And fuck I love the ending, how beautiful was that.

I guess I should mention that I'm open to suggestions not on the list as well; I also have The Matrix & A Clockwork Orange under consideration as well, but didn't put them on the poll because I figured they'd get an overwhelming percentage of the vote & make the poll too one-sided (two-sided?).

Metropolis (1927) is another one I'll probably watch eventually.

There was a moment when I half expected Richard O'Brien to suddenly break into "The Timewarp" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show...

But yes, definitely a gem. Just don't watch it in daylight...

Brazil was quite an experience! I'm still kind of formulating my full opinion on the ending (and, to a lesser extent, the overall movie), but it was certainly a unique film that kept me captivated throughout its 2+ hour length.

Tomorrow I'm either gonna watch Dark City or just finally see The Matrix for the first time. Dark City has a more captivating trailer/premise to me, but The Matrix is arguably the most iconic sci-fi movie of the past 25 years & I've only seen clips/segments from it before.

I don't really make these topics to "officially" decide, but rather to gather some perspective & see how others view a film, as well as to generate discussions about them medium in general. Even though most people didn't vote for Brazil, the responses I got from the people who did vote Brazil did influence my decision a little bit.
