Also, it might be worth it to romance male characters anyway. I never played as FemShep, but a couple of her romantic options seemed to have more depth than Male Shepard's. The romance as a whole I feel is a super overrated part of the series. And it got a bit absurd by ME3.

don't listen to this. there are conversation options that affect certain important events in the game, including the encounter with the end boss, that you can only pick if you've gone the majority one way or the other. if you waffle too much between paragon and renegade, you will not be able to choose said conversation options, and the result of what options you have left to pick will not be as good.

Eh I think you could go like 75% one way and still be okay. I'm not totally sure though, been a while since I played any of the games.

If you're on PC, then I'd suggest using the console in ME1 to max out your paragon/renegade scores, as well as the charm/intimidate skills. You can also use gibbed save editor to do the same in ME2. Commander Shepard not being able to intimidate someone, because he/she hasn't been enough of a xenophobic asshole who bullies civilians, is kind of silly. ME3 fixes this issue with the influence system.

there is an exploit where you can fill up both meters to the maximum at the same time

on Noveria, where a conversation can be repeated several times, that fill pretty much do it in a minute or two

i wouldn't recommend taking advantage of exploits to anyone on their first playthrough of any game

i did it on my first playthrough.
and i felt that a more well rounded Shepard was much more rewarding in the character/story aspect than choosing between a goodie two shoes, or a demon.

but that's my personal opinion

Just go for pistols. Shotguns cand assault rifles can be good, but pistols are so insanely overpowered there's no reason to use the others.

Femshep is the better voice. You can be a lesbian if you don't want to date guys.

Other than voice and sex partners, male and female shep are the same.

Advice for ME1?

You can upgrade weapons and ammo. Lots of people never realized this.

You'll want someone in your party at all times with high decryption and eletronics to unlock things. That's basically lockpicking skill.

Virmire and IIos are points of no return so do everything you want to finish first.

a lot of people hated the Mako but I loved it. Anyway when on the Mako exploring planets just stop if you get bored as they all just 1 square mile of quarry in different colors

Also you're going to have decide from the outset if you want to be Paragon or Renegade as Mass Effect doesn't benefit middle-ground players. All the perks come from picking a side and sticking to it

of crap, i forgot about how terrible Sniper rifles are.

IIRC, the mechanic there is that if you haven't put enough points in the sniper skill, Shepard can't hold it steady for shit. the reticle is going all over the place, and whether you hit or not is basically just based on if you manage to time the shot to when it's going over the target

Oh, there really is way too much play in the scope when using sniper rifles. I may just give those to party members if they can use them better.

It gets better with skill points and equipment.

AR had the same issue when I played a soldier.

Fire for like a quarter of a second and the reticule gets huge and accuracy goes to shit.

By endgame I was firing almost nonstop with a laser accuracy.

Lift and Singularity. That's everything she needs in this game. Max those two skills out, and put points into her class skill to reduce cooldown. Also, prioritize getting her the best bio-amps you can get: Savant and Polaris amps.

You get more than enough money in the first game. Whenever you visit the Citadel or any other vendor, unload all the stuff you're not using and upgrade everyone to the best stuff you can find. If your money's maxed out or if you max out your inventory in the field with no vendor in sight, just break them up into omni-gel.

If you're buying weapons, look at the manufacturer. Buy and use only Haliat/Armax/Ariake weapons in mid-game, Kassa/Rosenkov weapons in late-game. Regarding armor, Kassa's Colossus line is the best for nearly everyone, though Wrex's best may be armors from Geth Armory, and it wouldn't hurt to have a few Devlon armors since they have innate environment protection; comes in handy on a few planets.

If you're looking for morality points, probably the best way to handle that encounter by settling with +2 Renegade if you don't have the required high ranks in Charm/Intimidate to get +8 Paragon or +9 Renegade.

Though, I might have read somewhere that the admiral's inspection counts as a sidequest that's not visible in your log, and denying him that inspection means you fail it and thus miss out on some EXP and money. Not sure about that however.

Kaiden caught me by suprise when he started flirting with me in ME3. Was not expecting that to happen.

And to TC, feel free to sell your old equipment and mods. There is an inventory limit, which I became aware of when in the middle of a critical mission. Couldn't go back to sell it, so was dropping stuff left and right hoping the new pickups were better.

I just finished the first game.

Final party was Shep, Garrus, and Liara. Is the gameplay for the second game basically the same? Weapons the same and everything, or are there new things I should know when I start?

That game was great and Im excited to start the next one. Minor complaints are the rover controls and the menu. Nothing I couldnt get past.
