Other topic purged, but Part 2 is here! Hope you guys like it, we tightened up the audio sync as best as we could, and I think this episode has some pretty hilarious moments.

I enjoyed this episode as well, although it felt like there was less active discussion about the contest on-screen than before. Also, while this is a great, unique concept (enough to get me to subscribe!), I hope that future installations of this series feature games that seem closer in the head-to-head challenges. Of course, that could all change in the next episode, so maybe I'm just being way too picky.

Really, those are minor complaints. It's really a great, unique concept.

Do you mean more focused on the Gameplay or more of a close-race competition? Because yeah, Brent is getting smoked.

The closeness of the race could change and my nitpick would be moot. Also the secret stars could really make a difference. Honestly, though, it's such a unique concept that if this became a recurring series, blowouts would be okay if they were spread across multiple players.

That's usually the downside of these types of competitions, not every race will be close. In fact most will not be close if things aren't manufactured. Commentary will be key to keep things interesting and fun, especially if it takes several weeks to upload the entire match (how many parts will there be?)

Just two more, 4 months per episode.

And yeah, that was admittedly not a thought that even crossed our minds. What if it is a blowout? We could reveal some more of the Secret Stars, since those do make a difference. And they do make it much closer than it is. Maybe just more information for the audience?

And maybe you're on to something, we should potentially only pick games we could wrap up in 2-3 episodes. Just feels like soooooooooooo much work for not a lot of product. But it's worth noting for sure, and I appreciate the feedback.

The issue probably is the rate at which you post them in that case.

Yeah, I ORIGINALLY wanted to put two in per episode, but SG started fighting me about it in Part 1 and to just shut him up I agreed to the one lol.

Yeah, I was about to suggest having two episodes per week if these matches are long. Of course you are doing other stuff so that may not be an option (even ignoring the time it takes you to edit all this). Four weeks is a lot for people that aren't huge fans of a specific game (which is what your main audience will be once this takes off) even three weeks is pushing it.

This may not work for RCT2, but you could have mini challenges within an episode that also give points if you want to continue to make many episodes per game.

The issue will probably still be the rate at which it's completed even if you artificially inflate the number of videos. Of course, you do more on the channel than just this concept. I mean, maybe someday you'll get to a point where you are either faster at editing and posting videos or you have more time to do it, but you gotta stick with what you can do.

Ooooo now that's a pretty awesome idea! At the start of an episode, without telling them beforehand, maybe have a challenge that says "If you can accomplish this by the end of the episode, we will award you this many bonus stars."

That's a great idea for our next Versus.

And yeah, even our longstanding Quests obviously immediately take a nosedive after episode 1, which is expected of pretty much any series.

But there is a completionist side of me that really hates it when an LPer never finishes a game they start, and get decently far into. You'll notice that the majority of the Quests we start, we end up finishing.

A few we didn't like Diablo, Cuphead, Outlast etc. But for the most part, we see them through to the end. I think it also makes them stand up more to the test of time. It's even worse seeing an LPer not finish a game, and realize the last episode was years ago and there is no hope seeing it done.

This is why we have so many different games running simultaneously. Sure, if you're only interested in seeing us play one game, that kind of sucks. 30 minutes a week isn't much (pretty standard for any TV show though really). But there are other games/people you can sink into in the meantime, along with any backlog.

Yeah, series are for those playing the long game, waiting for huge fans of the game/channel to binge watch the entire series than to catch random viewers. No one wants to start watching at episode 17. This also makes the first few episodes all the more important to get people hooked on the series (sunk cost fallacy). Each game on Versus is more like a mini-series, but you should still see that effect.

The mini challenges help add an episodic aspect to the series, but it would also reduce some people's need to binge watch the entire series though given each game will likely never break 10 episodes (even more than 5 episodes would be rare) it might be worth it.

Yeah I'm really into the mini, episode long challenges. If you're an Amazing Race fan, I see them being like the Fast Forward. It takes some time and effort to get them, but if you're not the first one to get it you lost all that time TRYING to get it. It's a comeback mechanic that has some risk to it, rather than a Blue Shell in Mario Kart which has no risk.
