Just got them both

Was thinking about doing Thief first because I assume it's shorter while Persona 5 I assume will be 60 hours before we use the power of Friendship to kill God.

What does CE think?

That's kinda off putting

I loved RPGs growing up but I find so many of them tend to drag now with pointless cutscenes and filler fights.

I'd take 20 hours of packed content vs 100 of filler.

FFIX is my favorite RPG of all time and you can 100% if in well under 60 hours and speedrun it in under 12 comfortably. There's even an item if you do that.

hopefully it's 100 good hours.

Persona 5 went from masterpiece to pretty ok entirely because it overstayed its welcome.

Persona 5 drags on really really hard, if it was 50 or 60 hours for a first play through, it'd be fantastic, but it is like 90 to 100 hours minimum unless you use a guide/skip all the social stuff. Plus it is way less accessible than P4, where any rando can pick it up and do pretty much everything they want, and it is easy to figure out. Dungeons are a lot harder in P5 than P4 as well.

Fair enough. The last 20 hours suffered from significant pacing issues. Still mg favourite game of last year, though.

Well I was leaning towards Persona first due to the votes but I guess I should do thief first since it takes 200 hours to play Persona?

Persona 5 was flat-out amazing.
Thief reboot was okay, but often mediocre.

Of course, if you wanted to get the quicker one out of the way first, you should pick Thief.

thief reboot is garbage

So I started Thief

I'm enjoying it but 2 things are bugging me

1. The fact you keep finding stuff that says "Oh you cant do that until you get the X tool!" which kinda kills the point of giving you a map to explore and side-quests to do.

Defo not 100%ing this game because I don't want to have to backtrack to places I already explored a second time after i get the thing.

2. The sidekick girl is super annoying. Not sure why we're supposed to care about her

But the sneaking is fun
