Memeing aside, dedicating a portion of the military to the space domain in smart, because as we focus more on peer adversaries it's going to become the new "front line" of any military operation. As it is, losing GPS basically ruins any operation before it begins.

Anyway, I do remember Congress specifically calling for this last year (or was it 2016? time is flying). Their intent was to create a separate branch to manage space asset development, deployment and operation because they believed that the Air Force was siphoning funding from the "space budget" for other, non-space related stuff.
