Definitely not necessary but it most certainly helps as long as you don't threaten violence.

Bullies make good leaders/bosses. Aside from being assholes they know how to selfishly succeed.

Not so much a bully, but being arrogant and totally in belief of your ability and that your decision is the 100% right one would help, not accepting anything less than the best, etc.

Some people see this as bullying

Nice guy? I don't give a s***. Good father? F*** you! Go home and play with your kids. If you want to work here, close!

To succeed? No, not at all. Since for most people that just entails being a stable member of the middle to upper-middle class, you mostly just gotta make sure you get the proper education, work hard, can sell yourself well, make 'smart' decisions like being ready for drug tests, etc. Nothing in that equates to being a bully in my mind. There is some luck involved in there but for the most part in America it's eminently achievable to find success like that over time. And honestly, to just "succeed" in life, you can aim the bar way lower than that - to each their own. But if you're talking about being hugely ambitious and about eventually being in the upper crust of the wealthy etc. due to solely your efforts and not just walking into an inheritance, then yeah, usually.
