I took a night class at UMBC 10 years ago. I guess Ill bandwagon them now.

But no really I was in a Starbucks last week sitting next to a crazy looking dude and he got so emotional while watching his phone. Fist pumping in public out of his seat. He said I had no idea what just happened. I asked him and then he said UMBC (where he went a long time ago) just made the tournament for the first time in a while. He was so happy.

We then talked about sports for a while, his history of betting on them, he kinda got a little crazier when he said all pro sports are fixed - just gotta find the fix. Then he said his nickname was Danny Durden and he was gonna win a Pulitzer one day.

Anyway Im sure hes very happy right now and Im happy for him in some weird way. I hope he gets that Pulitzer.

They also lost to Army, Vermont twice by at least 15, and lost to Maryland by 20.

They weren't underseeded. They shouldn't have been anywhere close to the tournament at all if it wasn't for their last minute comeback against Vermont in their conference tournament. This really is unparalleled in sports.

Apparently their conference final buzzer beater win against Vermont ended a 23 game losing streak against them.

I checked a YouTube vid later on and was pretty excited for the team (I live 40 mins away from UMBC).

Whats funny was all year this UVA team reminded me of those "good" pitt years where they had great defense, but would lose to shit teams come tourney time. This didn't disappoint

one of those losses was to Butler who ended up nearly winning the final sooooo

I went to pitt, we lost to a fuckton of bad teams tourney time......we are the most disappointing team in tourney history according to 538

He will never come back. Pitt only was good because of him. As soon as Pitt moved to the ACC they were fucked. He kept it alive a bit longer because hes a good coach with marginal talent during the regular season. Also Big East basketball was more physical and less shot creation and open looks. Not saying one is better than the other, but Pitt will always be mauled in the ACC for basketball. Its funny how you bring up the Butler game, but giving up the layup against Nova with the final 4 appearance on the line was really our last chance. Pitt is shit, remember folks.

it was all for football, but then again the entire conference realignment bullshit we saw when the longhorn network caused the big 12 to change a bunch caused the whole thing. Pitt doesn't have young talent to recruit anymore, they should be in the AAC

I have never understood how exactly Virgina wins. Everyone touts their inside defense as how they win, but I have seen team after team bomb deep 3s and stuff against other teams. However when it comes to Virgina it always seems every team misses their open 3s constantly or doesn't shoot them when they are open. I have never understood why teams just play differently against Virgina. It is not that are tightly defended. I have seen teams have no problem shooting against other teams the way they are afraid to against Virginia.

It is funnier when a good shooter can't shoot free throws because they do not know how to shoot without jumping.
