You really think he hasn't already made enough money to send the kid to any college in the world? And even if he hasn't, the difference in what he'd make in WWE versus anywhere else is completely immaterial.

The point I'm trying to make here is that Rock thinks Maroon's presence disqualifies this as being a PR power play by WWE.

In actuality, Maroon is the only guy that could possibly make this a PR power play because no doctor with actual scruples would have kept Bryan out, thus negating the PR move.

If, instead, even the worst concussions can show absolutely no permanent damage with a little relaxation and some oxygen, that throws the whole thing out the window, doesn't it? That's a huge win for Vince, and maybe that's his angle here. Daniel Bryan as the face of... not the WWE, but the face of "brain injury is no big deal."

What makes me suspicious though is that this whole issue is far bigger than pro wrestling. There's a lot more money at stake in the NFL. So why haven't we heard about this happening with a football player? Why isn't Roger Goodell attaching himself to this? Why is the media totally uninterested in what appears to be a miracle breakthrough that reverses recent trends of medical science and proves our fun contact sports are a lot safer than we imagined?

The most likely answer to me, seems to be "Because Vince is lying about some significant percentage of this."

Bryan heard about a story about Evoke Neurosciences eVox device, which, combined with neurocognitive testing, purportedly finds brain issues that conventional imaging doesnt. (Evoke claims its just aggregating established, FDA-approved EEG testing.) He went to New York City, took the test, and it revealed a lesion in the temporoparietal area of his brain, which can cause seizures.

Combined with the actual seizures he was having, that's kind of a big deal.

To be fair, the doctors themselves don't sound the greatest that cleared Bryan:

Cantu is a respected doctor in the concussion field, but many believe hes been compromised by a complex web of relationships with the NFL, among others. Crdenas has also worked for the NFL. Kutcher was Michigan footballs neurologist in 2014 when Shane Morris was allowed to return to the game with a concussion. Maroon, formerly a member of the NFLs Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Committee, once claimed chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, was rare, and declared football safe.

The handful of reports I've seen since (and Bryan's own comments) have been signs that the brain lesion is healing and it wasn't until the last few months (once again by Bryan's own comments) that he made a push to be cleared to return to the ring.

By all means, if you can give me a link of actual neurologists clearing Daniel Bryan and not Bryan himself saying "I've been cleared by x/y/z/etc." maybe I'll give it more weight.

Yeah this isn't an overnight cure. Why would they put it out as a panacea when he's only been cleared and hasn't competed yet and it takes many sessions to see how it compares to others

Bryan had said before it wasn't even a "lesion" like you'd think of one, it was lesion as in medical terminology to describe any brain abnormality (in his case slightly slowed reactions). Apparently this confused him greatly
