..required to have her name published?

Just read that the judge in this case has ruled that she doesn't have to have her name published but she must have her hometown published. The article didn't say if she will accept this or appeal further.

Publishing her details would indeed show that the powerball isn't some kind of scam but it will also make the woman's safety a major concern. Not everybody are good people; some will see her as a walking bundle of cash. As a result, many people refuse to buy lotteries because it may put your life and family in danger if you win big money because in some places, the winner's photo, city and name will be published. And so, I voted this option in the poll:

I agree with this huge lotto winner that nothing should be required to be published

People shouldn't need to arm themselves, buy armor or equipment to protect themselves or their loved ones over winning a lottery ticket. Publishing their photos and names are WRONG and such rules should be abolished.

No. There aren't any laws I'm aware of which require people to buy a lotto ticket. Buying a lotto ticket means you have agreed to their terms.

And like I said their terms dont overrule inalienable rights.

The court has already decided her name wont be released because they recognize this fact. Deal with it.

i have a question

not knowing much about the case, why is this specific woman allowed to remain anonymous? why won't every person from here on out just file to remain anonymous since the precedent has been set that they can?

They can, just prior there was no precedent so nobody wanted to take the risk.

The woman fucked up by signing the lotto ticket in her name. In states where you can't remain anonymous (most states), you can choose to form a trust, and then sign the ticket with the name of the trust. You can do this is any state to stay (relatively) anonymous.

But because she jumped the gun, she has to reveal some personal information and is throwing a fit.

Given that it's an opt-in contest, seems a dubious claim.

That. And I believe it cost like close to half her money, too. Like it cost a lot for this case...

This, too. Probably shouldn't have jumped the gun like this. So, it's also kid of her fault.

Anyway, I could care less. Personally, I wouldn't want my info published. But I do believe that if those were the rules, then those were the rules. But, whatever...
