I just spent three hours fishing, trying to land something big. I finally did just a moment ago, and when I did I started discarding all the other fish I caught... and accidentally threw away the big fish.

I didn't care for fishing the first time around, but I like it now.

But Spheda was always awesome. The only bad thing was when you're given an impossible setup.

That thing was a whopper too. I invested nearly all my stats into luck to run into more big fish, so with my lack of strength every little tap of the button nearly filled the tension bar.

I really need to get this game. The first Dark Cloud is in my top five PS2 games of my out of my entire collection (this is coming from a man that owns over 100 games for the system) and I've always heard that the sequel was even better. If only it didn't cost so much online. Not that it's expensive. Just too expensive for me.

I felt the exact opposite.

Hated the thirst meter and weapons disappearing if they broke. It's a weapon. Not a dandelion. It doesn't just fly away if you lose it.

I know (now; not when I first played it) that a hubger/thirst meter is pretty standard in dungeon crawlers/roguelikes, but it still kinda sucked. With that and breakable weapons, you were always walking on eggshells in the first game. Thankfully both are gone in the sequel.

You going to get Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom? Apparently they "borrowed" the Georama feature from the Dark Cloud games. I'm looking forward to it.

No, NNK 2 is a separate story from the first game. It's a sequel but the events in 2 take place hundreds of years after the first game and involve different characters.

The first game is good, but not without it's share of flaws. Been following a lot of pre-release stuff on the sequel and most indications point toward NNK 2 being a noticeable improvement on the first game.

I'm not sure how fleshed out it is, but yeah. There's some sort of town/city building mechanic in NNK 2.
