Its incredible...Online shopping and Toys R Us' inability to adapt to growing technology will end up being a major reason for its demise, and one of those online retailers that contributed to its demise will try and purchase their empty buildings so they can open their own brick and mortar stores...

Its like how everyone "cord cut" to purchase streaming services and now those streaming services are just turning into cable TV services that requires internet. Amazon's business model hurt stores like Toys R Us and now they plan on buying their old buildings to open their own stores like Toys R Us.

I would have thought Amazon would use them as more warehousing and/or their Amazon GO grocery store shit things. I'm all for Amazon, They need to make things come to me instead of me coming to them.

I feel like Amazon being the main reason is a misnomer.

What killed them was many stupid things they did.

For awhile, I was collecting some lego sets to resell after they gained value and would hunt for deals.

Once I had to go to the bathroom at a ToysRus and there was no toilet paper.

Another time they had a good deal for video games. I stood near the games waiting for help which took forever to come. No one was around to help but a busy cashier checking people out.

Also, they would mark up items ABOVE the msrp. Certain lego sets would be sold from 10 to 20 dollars more than everywhere else on purpose. Supposedly they did it with other items too.
They stopped doing it recently I think, but too late. (I think they did this with MTG too?)

As utterly shitty as the post office has become about losing packages, even before assholes can steal them right off of porches, a place to go pick up my Amazon shit on the way home would be really nice.

figma
bandai figuarts (though the recently sold those but sparse selection)
the naughty figures
body pillows
and the scale non-naughty figures
nendoroids

basically, even small brick and mortar comic shops have used these to supplement their revenue but a giant like ToysRUs couldn't do it?
