Early Resident Evil 7 Spoilers!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zpLXa5FwVM" data-time="

There's a bit in Resident Evil 7 where a black cop has gone to investigate a house after recieving several calls about people going missing lately and strange noises.

When he arrives to investigate he finds a man inside behind barred windows covered in barbed wire who is clearly bruised/bloody and very emotional exclaiming that he does not live there, is trapped and the cop needs to get him out of there.

The cop tells him to calm down and that he can exit via the garage. The man then exclaims that there are people trying to kill him and if the cop doesn't give him a gun then he's going to die before he gets to the garage.

The cop calls him crazy and ignores him but the man keeps shouting that he's going to be dead unless the cop helps him. So the cop reluctantly gives him a pocket knife through the bars.

The cop then goes to the garage, opens the door, but doesn't let the guy leave until explains what he was doing in the seemingly abandonded house in the middle of no where in the middle of the night. Then gets decapitated (well penetrated through the face at least) by a crazy hillbilly.

Which to me raises the question to cops, how accurate would you say this scene is? If you were sent to investigate calls of missing people and strange noises, and then when you arrived found a hysterical man behind barred windows begging for a weapon and saying he was going to be killed unless you helped him, what would you do?

As a cop you would never give someone a weapon, no matter how distressed they seem to be. You have no way of knowing id they are in leagues with a criminal.

But the person is inside the house behind barred windows and the only way out/inside is through the garage.

Which he then went to and stayed with the person until he was murdered.

So you're saying the cop did what you would do? Or would you stay outside and demand the man stay by the barred window in line of sight until back up arrived?

To be fair to the REVII developers he did.

The cop is shown to repeatedly look behind him, even moments before he is murdered from behind. Guy is alert but that didn't save him.

Not a plot hole. It's a horror game.

Will take too long to explain the plot but basically the guy who killed the cop can do supernatural shit. Sneaking up on people when he blatantly wasn't there a moment ago is par for the course.

But you still haven't answered the question as you try to derail the topic.

What would YOU do in that scenario?

You don't give him a weapon, you do open the garage door, but you take this dude back to your vehicle before asking him any questions. You handcuff him there, should've already called for backup, and you call for ems. Keep your spotlight on the house.

Fair enough although it's interesting to note that this means Ethan would have died.

To give RE7 more credit than it probably deserves.. It is established that the cop has already been to the property before. The Bakers mention "Is that damn cop AGAIN" at one point when they hear a noise.

So I suppose speculation is that he and presumably his partner/back up have already been there several times before and found nothing?

So now when he gets calls it's almost a force of habit so trival that he goes alone? And that's why he was so shaken by Insane Ethan?

I dunno, I don't want to make excuses.

Ever seen Hot Fuzz?

The cops (at least UK cops) praised it for it's realistic depiction of paperwork and headaches every time anyone did anything.

Ibqould keep him right where he was until backup came. Not go in after him after he claims the house is very dangerous and where kidnappers are.
