What's more, they are relative terms; the center of American politics is not the center of British politics or French politics. These things mean you can't really tell anything about a person's actual views from the label of "centrist." Just figure out where you stand on issues and which ones are most important to you and vote for whoever best represents that. The whole tribalism crap is superfluous and only there to cater to insecurity. It also tends to lead to over simplicity of issues and a harder time engaging constructively with those on the opposite side of an issue. For example, I hate abortion, but pro lifers in my country want to ban the pre-natal treatment that saved my son's life. What's more, they are relative terms; the center of American politics is not the center of British politics or French politics. These things mean you can't really tell anything about a person's actual views from the label of "centrist." These people have opinions and views, and there are words that better describe what those views are. We should use those words instead, for clarity's sake. American shills for partisan politics can't grasp someone not taking either side because they're whole existence is tied to the political party they support.
