I wonder; had this Enzo mess not happened; would we be getting the moderately decent product currently being farmed out under Maverick in Kayfabe, HHH IRL?

Yes but it would have taken longer. Enzo would have to 100% wear out his Vince appeal

Now Slaughter's return wasn't that bad. It set up Savage/Warrior at Mania. Warrior being more pissed at Savage than he was Slaughter.

However, Slaughter's feud with Hogan dragged on into September on UK Tours.

His program with Hogan was okay, even if their SS match was kind of silly w/ the Countout finish.

That was actively the first time someone could put Hogan out for a while. Something Piper, Bundy, Andre, Savage or even Dino Bravo (Who had his number on the house show circuit via Bearhugs) couldn't do.

I still wince when I see Hogan take that drop on the Brother love show, Not so much the move but, I'm left thinking "Hope Tenta/Quake washed today!" as he's basically got his crotch in his face!

Got done w/ NXT.

Pumped for Gargano/Ciampa at Takeover Next week.

Whatever the outcome, I'm sure I'll be a great PHYSICAL match where neither man is the same after and to slam the door on this feud properly.

Ive mentioned this before but its been a long time

Hogan vs Warrior at WM6 was the first wrestling match I ever saw. My cousins had rented it on VHS later that year and we watched it at their house. I was 9. Hooked for life.

And yet my favorite wrestler pretty immediately after digging deeper was Bret Hart. Odd.

^ Bret was my fave around age 8. SVS '92 is the first PPV I can remember clearly. Aunt (who I'm no longer talking to due some family garbage, mostly her being toxic) had Sky, which was in its infancy in those days and had Sky Sports due to being a massive fan of Tennis and also wrestling and recorded PPVs for me and my brother.

I started watching wrestling in the late 90s when I was around 10ish, I watched WCW mainly because WWF stuff was on at a weird time where I was. I remember being a big fan of Sting and DDP, and being lukewarm on Goldberg despite being pretty much exactly the demographic that should have thought he was the coolest thing ever.

Also, WM was not on pace to sell out until a bunch of tickets started moving after SD last week, and now theres fewer than 1000 left.

Will Vince see this as evidence that Bryan is a draw?

lol

I doubt it. In Vince's mind, that's just people who are buying tickets to see an injured Roman get his revenge against a healthy Brock.

Very interesting stat though, for those of us that are sane.

I wanted him to win, but I don't think, as a child, that I framed things in that context. He and Mick Foley just seemed awesome when I was a kid.

That's me pretty closely. I'm not sure Hogan/Warrior was the first match I actually saw-- I suspect not-- but it's the first match I remember watching. And yeah Bret Hart was my favorite back then-- probably in large part due to King of the Ring 1993 being the first PPV I remember watching in full.

I watched Hogan/Warrior live in scramblevision and was crapping myself because I didn;t know who to root for. I was a total mark for everything WWF back then. My first match was Hogan/Shiek re-match in 84 (I think) with the boot. It was perfect for my sensibilities - "hey that guy is cheating he has spiked boots. Oh the good guy took the spiked boot and gouged the crap out of the bad guy. Yay good guys!"

My other early favorites were the dumb good guys. I don't mean the hot headed guys that cost themselves matches by getting ticked off at Jimmy Hart or Cornette. I mean the mentally disabled guys like JYD and George the Animal and the Bushwackers.

I thought the loud mouthed heel manager routine was awful and boring and obvious. Guy jumps on the apron, ref hyperfocuses on him, good guy gets distracted, heel cheats, rinse lather repeat. But have the faces be mentally incompetent (this is a stretch for JYD but when I was a kid I was sure that dude thought he was a legit dog) was quite intriguing. I also liked Kamala a lot even though he was usually a heel. People who have to compete without having complete control of their executive functions - I liked that as a kid.

John Pollock of Post Wrestling interviewed Russell Naquin of the Louisiana Boxing & Wrestling Commission (via wrestlinginc.com), and revealed that piledrivers and blood are prohibited on pro wrestling events statewide, due to an incident, which injured a competitor several years ago. It has also been revealed that the following moves are banned in the state, and that the bans will be enforced over WrestleMania weekend

1. All variations of the Pile Driver;
2. All variations of the Power Bomb;
3. The Moonsault, Shooting Star, or 450 Splash or any variation thereof which involves one wrestler, leaping or flipping off the ropes or turnbuckles to contact the head or neck of the opponent with any part of his body;
4. The Stungun of any variation thereof which results in the one fighters head or neck being dragged, draped or closelined [sic] across the ropes;
5. The striking of a wrestlers head with any object, chair, trashcan [sic] lid, etc., and
6. No wrestler shall throw, push, shove or force another out of the ring or over the top rope.

The commission rules also state the following: The Commission Official [on site] may, at his sole discretion, allow wrestlers to perform prohibited holds, moves or maneuvers listed above, provided permission is sought and obtained prior to the event by both wrestlers and the requesting wrestlers have sufficient training, athletic ability and experience to perform the maneuver without endangering one another.

The commission has stated that WWE & ROH are not subject to the bans, due to being major league promotions.
